I just thought I'd remind some of you that although "drink up" is thrown around a lot as advice for social gatherings, remember that each person as a different tolerance.

Remember to find your sweet spot if you haven't already, among close friends or family, and stay hydrated. You don't want to come off as too upfront or that you have a drinking problem.

Personally, lightly alcoholic beverages like beer don't work, and just make me sweat and pee. For this reason shots work best, but always remember to know your limit.

The amount I'd recommend for meeting a new person, especially in a dating situation, is none. Alcohol is for relaxing and letting your guard down alone or around people you know very well. It's one of those things that too much, too soon will give a new person a bad impression, and should be brought out only after a relationship is no longer quite so fragile.

I almost forgot, that's right. For some the right amount could be zero.

But I know there are many like me who can't open up otherwise, and drinking is very common on dates and it might be awkward if one didn't. I also am against every other drug, and I know people like to sometimes smoke before, but I definitely advise against that.

One to three in a typical night out. If the evening progress past 4-5 hours, sipping another beverage would be safe.
