After listening to this song I've developed a celebrity crush on Amy Lee. I'm also writing a science fiction novel where the two protagonists are based respectively on me and my ideal girl. Both of these factors have combined to make all of the girls I meet in real life seem unattractive by comparison, the result of which is that I don't really give a $hit about girls because none of them are my type anyway. This is good because I don't have a girlfriend and I know I won't for a very long time. No point in developing and interest in anyone; I'd just come off as a stalker. I think if I develop impossible-to-meet standards for my ideal girl, then it will make me a lot happier in the long run.

The problem with that, for me, is that I would still not be getting any love.

My celebrity crush is Avril Lavigne. And she would never go for me, anyways, so that's an out.

In fact, I don't imagine anybody who I'm attracted to, finding me attractive. I'd probably have to settle.

Oh well, there's always porn. :D

Porn > celebrities.

Ah screw it! I suppose 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Evanescence is a great band and Amy Lee is awesome on many levels :)
Her songs are deep, often dark, and always manage to get through to me.

Don't give up on love!
If you're basing your "Ideal girl" on mostly looks you're setting yourself up for a lot of lonely days and a horrible relationship(s). Perhaps shorten your list for an ideal woman to:"Will love me just the way I am - and vice versa" and you'll find it easier to find an ideal girl just for you.

Amy has been my celebrity crush for years. She's been with me through my darker days and brighter nights. Evanescence is forever a favourite band of mine and I hope I can find a girl that likes that type of music or at least understands it and doesn't write it off as goth music. Perhaps I shall find a goth girl.

I'm not sure that's the healthiest way of coping, LordoftheMonkeys....

Evanescence is not exactly goth. I think it gets written off as emo-ish. And she she has got a lovely voice. I will admit to being able to enjoy their music on occasion, though not so much these days (I'm just not emotional enough for it anymore, it seems). I did love Exodus when I first moved away from home and Hello before that.

Self delusion can be a great coping technique sometimes :sunny: I'm much happier fantasizing about Miranda Cosgrove than I am trying to get in a relationship

I wouldn't say its goth either, I do greatly admire goths. I'm not very knowledgeable of emos though. I listen to her music because even though its often melancholy it keeps emotions alive within me and it keeps me hopeful somehow.

Good idea,
When I look back on times when I have felt similar to you that is exactly what I have done.
