Hi Anton,
I'm not completely sure how the open university system works. It's a little bit complicated and my friend is the person who's introduced me to it and encouraged me to register for the course. I think their degrees are a little different to ordinary universities' degrees.
I think they offer a science degree that's a mixture of biology, chemistry and physics, and you can branch out in different directions as you go along completing modules. It's quite interesting because you get more choice than a regular university. I don't know if you've seen this webpage but it might be helpful for you - it shows the undergraduate degrees available at the OU:
