I live alone in north Manchester, I'm about to start studying a short biology course at the Open University and plan to move onto getting a full degree, like reading (currently reading A Confederacy of Dunces), am learning to drive, enjoy watching my Dawson's Creek DVDs, regularly go to the theatre and am looking for a date who comes from a good family, is well educated and who doesn't swear.

Hi Anton,

I'm not completely sure how the open university system works. It's a little bit complicated and my friend is the person who's introduced me to it and encouraged me to register for the course. I think their degrees are a little different to ordinary universities' degrees.

I think they offer a science degree that's a mixture of biology, chemistry and physics, and you can branch out in different directions as you go along completing modules. It's quite interesting because you get more choice than a regular university. I don't know if you've seen this webpage but it might be helpful for you - it shows the undergraduate degrees available at the OU:

The OU is a modular system, if you get x points then you are entitled to a degree.

But if the x points are witthin a particular subject area such as law or science then they will award you a BSc ora law degree rather than just a normal BA.

It's great to know you've been successful with the OU. Gives me hope. Where in the UK are you?
