Finally, I have done it. I have found a wonderful guy who I want to be with the rest of my life and have a family with. We have been together now 9 months and, a couple of months ago, we got engaged. We are now planning to buy a house, get married and have children. He thinks my aspie quirks are funny or cute rather than annoying and he reckons I would make a great wife and mother. How awesome is that? Just wanted to share my happiness with everyone :)

Squeee! Good for you!! :D

Be careful though - this board is full of haters who'll think you're 'rubbing their face' with your happiness.

Well thank you :)

However, I would like to assure people that I am not trying to rub anyone's face in it. I know from experience how difficult even getting a partner can be, let alone then having to sustain a relationship when I finally get one. So the fact that I now with someone who accepts me is something of which I feel is an achievement, if even I can get someone, that means others can surely. But people may take it as they may, at least I can say I am not writing this with any malicious intent or to make others feel bad, that is definitely not my intention.

Hi emlion,

We would like to get our house first and we don't know how long that's going to take. Once we have that security, then we are going to consider marriage and children :)

Congratulations!! !!

Have you thought about the wedding yet and what you would like? I love hearing about the individual things people do with their wedding to make it uniquely theirs.

I think we are just going to have a small wedding with close family and friends. I have never understood why people spend so much money and get themselves into debt over one day. I think a wedding should be about the level of commitment you have to another person and not about showing off how much money you can spend, but that's just my take. I have a red chinese dress that I have never worn though and thought it might be nice to wear that instead of forking out a load of money for another dress that I'm only going to wear once anyway.

I'd sell my soul to be engaged.

What a bizarre non-sequitur. Let's let Fiz enjoy her fantastic news without hijacking her thread to complain about how hard life is for some of us.

She can enjoy it. I'm saying I'm envious.
