Men of WrongPlanet.net,

I request your attention. Take a look at this beauteous lady with Asperger's syndrome, Jessica Peers, writer of Asparagus Dreams. On ye vast Internets, I can think of at least one woman with AS who's also hot. Offline I can think of two more. Do women with Asperger's get great looks as some sort of genetic compensation for their neurodevelopmental disorder or what?

As a guy, I was blessed with neither looks nor a charming personality (by far). Honesty, patience, and kindness are not personality traits easily noticed, so women have a tendency to pass me by. We men are at a distinct disadvantage.

In conclusion, it's not fair!

I wouldn't say she stands out as particularly hot...but she's attractive no less.

Two girls I know that might be Aspies are quite attractive. The one actually looks a lot like this Jessica, but hotter. :D

Eh, I wouldn't exactly call her hot... She's certainly not bad looking, but she's not exactly drop dead sexy, either.

Anyways, the only way we can test out if Aspie women are given, as you said, "great looks as some sort of genetic compensation for their neurodevelopmental disorder" is if they all post up their pictures. Nude shots, preferably.

...But only for the sake of research, of course.

Jessica Peers is beautiful.

She's not looking into the camera and she's wearing conservative clothing so this particular picture may not be described as "hot". But, I'm sure she could be. Plus, she's not even wearing much make-up. And she's gorgeous without it.

To state what should be obvious:

Aspergers is a mental / psychological condition. It does not affect physical appearance of the body.

To believe that there is a link between Aspergers and certain physical appearance characteristics, or to believe that Aspergers women look better than NT women, or to believe that Aspergers women are more likely to look attractive than NT women -- those beliefs are ridiculous unless you can point to some evidence of it, but there is no such evidence.

Women with AS are not better or worse looking than NTs.

It's a warped opinion based on bias and also personal preference. Same with AS males.

You can think of 3? What a ridiculous sample size. What about the other 5 million? Ok that closes it people, neanthuimain thinks at least 3 people with AS are attractive, so that's the final verdict.

I can think of at least 3 NTs that are attractive. This is probably the worst generalisation I have ever seen.. NTs don't single out people like you neanthumain, you single out yourself.

The stereotype is that people with Asperger's syndrome are geeks or nerds, and the stereotype about geeks and nerds is that they are "plain Janes." I was not trying to assert that all women with AS are beauties but that the stereotype that people (at least women) with AS are ugly is wrong.

I personally am not bad looking, but I'm not handsomest or "studliest" guy out there either. I have a somewhat plain conventional masculine face.

I think the only thing we sometimes have which stands out is the hyper-almond eyes, something that me and neongrl used to talk about and that we've both noticed also happens with people who have ADHD, OCD, or even Parkinson's in some cases. The look I'm talking about is the whole real thin look with eyes almost wided-out like you'd see in old Egyptian paintings (usually there's a strange twinkle that goes along with that) and a really neurologically strained/frail look to their mannerisms. Then again that's something that we both kinda figure is more secondary to just having low dopamine - but it does seem to happen with a lot of aspies and of course that's mostly aspies with comorbid ADHD.

Actually, there are physical manifestations I have observed. They aren't necessarily physical differences per se, but Aspies tend to move about and do other physical things differently, such as standing with a bit of a hunchback. In some cases they also have a different appearance than NTs in the hair department. All the Aspies I know have physical characteristics that differ from the norm, and there is one that is slightly deformed in the face.

Have you known any aspies that seem to bounce around with rather more energy than what NTs consider acceptable? And also I am a aspie with well above average balance. How many other aspies out there find they have exeptional balance and hand eye cowordingation. Another aspie i know is also a really good runner just like I am. I think that the ablitity to run in more to do with the persons attude to running and the fact we want to run rather than gentic predispositions to be faster runners.

I also think 99% of weight problems is cause by enviormental factors as well. Well only 1% is caused by disablitys or medications.

Or tho there do seem to be some attractive Aspie girls. I dont think the ratio of aspie girls ugly/good looking is really any thing that far off from NTs.

Is it? I've never heard of that stereotype.. it sounds like one people on this site made up. Heaps of people here aren't geeks or nerds.. so this automatically disclaims your next paragraph. It has never, ever been a stereotype that women with AS are ugly or geeks/nerds.

Anyway, your initial post had nothing to do with stereotypes:

The answer is no, by the way, also.

Agree with Hale Bopp.
Why?
Because I totally missed out, that's why!
Seriously though, I thought autistics look the same as non-autistics. It's our mannerisms that set us apart.

M.O.O.C.-

I have extremely good eye-hand coordination, even for an NT, I can shoot baskets all day, but I can’t play one-on-one, much less full-court basketball, because I can’t keep track of the ball and the other player. My dad was a stutterer and possible aspie. He ran track, no need to talk. I had trouble breathing but I was on the swim team. Swimming regulates my breathing.
And, by the way, there are no ugly women, just ugly minds.

Okay, now for some fun and games. Everybody who thinks they’re better lookin’ than me post your picture on this thread: (Oh, wait a minute, is HTML no longer available in posts?)
That means you too ladies.
