I do and i think it's holding me back in terms of dating sites. I am incapable of looking relaxed and happy and it's become a big thing as everytime i try and take a pic of myself now i start feeling under duress and i always come out looking weird and uncomfortable. I don't know ,maybe i'm just unattractive? Anyone had a similar problem and overcome it?

I hated looking at photos of myself because I hated how I smiled, I hated my teeth, and then it was because I looked fat in them and I hated how my body looked. I only liked showing photos of myself online if I looked skinny in them.

Now I feel happy with myself because hey I got thinner, my weight dropped so I should feel good about myself. I don't care about my teeth anymore nor my smiles.

I hate looking at photo's of myself - they're either ridiculously bad, or they look nothing like me - and this isn't just me thinking this way, most people agree. I just don't have that much awareness of my facial expressions or how I hold my body, also the slightest change in facial expression can make my face look warped. I only have a few photo's of myself, most of which are old photo's I've spent ages trying to get on my own with a web cam or camera on a mobile phone, never have I seen a good candid shot of me. I hate not knowing if I'm attractive or not as the mirror makes this no clearer to me.

Normal advice is to get dolled-up with make-up if you wear it and plain coloured but flattering clothing, then find some good lighting and a camera. Try to relax, if you drink try a few glasses of wine to relax a bit, then get your camera and take loads of photo's until you find what works for you, trying out different positions and facial expressions to try to find what looks good. Even the most beautiful model will have hundreds of shots taken before they find a photo that looks good, just try to practice and another idea is if you have a friend willing give them the camera to try to get candid shots of you as they may work for you if it's just an issue of trying to look relaxed.

Remember too that although photo's attract potential dates at the end of the day it's not your looks they should get hung-up on, it's you they'll be getting hung-up on :)

It's good advice. I should try taking photos in a greater quantity instead of giving up when one makes me look like a munter. Looking relaxed at all going to be a big problem though i think. The one i have on okcupid now is kind of dimly lit and it looks a bit weird i think. Like i'm trying to conceal something. It's the only one ive ever been happy with though. :(

Only pictures of myself that I can stand looking at are pictures of me as a baby/toddler/young kid. The older the pictures are, the less bad it is for me, I think.

I'd love to know where that term "munter" came from, everyone seems to be saying it now.

Just remember the more you stress about it the more tense you're going to be, when taking your photo's try to think happy thoughts...granted easier said than done...sods to it pull funny faces as you're trying to take photo's if that doesn't relax you enough to get a good pic at least you'll have a silly pic that might work for you too :D

Some digital cameras have an option to take a bunch of photos in a row. I find that can be helpful, especially if you try to move slowly in a circle while you let it take the photos, or even talk to someone so that your face keeps changing. Then you have a whole giant set of photos to look through with different facial expression and can pick the most flattering ones. Also, having someone else take a set of photos while you just sit and talk to a third person (or even a pet) might be helpful to distract you from the camera and get a variety of shots.

I either look seriously disappointed or like Grisha in that photo with the goat. Either appearances are attempts at smiles, but never look anything like it. It makes me cringe.

Photographs in general are horrible, I feel like the people are looking at me and know what I am thinking. Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah, I hate having photos of myself online. I do have a few here and there but I made sure they are dark and blurry so I can hardly be seen.

Oh, I hate looking at myself in general. Trying to get used to it though, which is why I'm in my avatar.

I don't really like looking at myself on the mirror and I definitely don't like how I look in most photos. There is a particularly bad photo of me, M and his sister. I looked like a dead corpse propped up looking very stunned. I absolutely hated that photo. M didn't feel this way about that photo. He even went behind my back and had it loaded onto his facebook page until I chucked a tantrum demanding him to remove it.

It depends on my mood.
If i'm having a bad day, all I see are the flaws in how I look.
