I've been struggling financially for years now. I've occasionally gotten a job but it didn't last, and I ended up homeless all over again.
On one hand: I don't want to get myself into a situation where I'm with a girl I don't really like, but I have to out of desperation or because I feel obligated to.
On the other: If a girl gets all excited about me once I am financially secure, how do I know she'd still stick with me if things get rough again? Even if I don't anticipate losing my job, that still would bother me on principle: the fact that she doesn't truly care enough about me, and she's only around while things are good.

You don't. Nothing is gauranteed. Impermanence is the way of all things. I would enjoy relationships as they are, not how they might be.

Why not seek out relationships with people who aren't concerned about your career/financial status? They do exist. Probably you'd be more likely to find them within more artistic/"bohemian" circles. Among other circles.
