i think inner beauty is just a reflection on the complexity of human brain to dig as deep as it can. i don't really beleive it.

Well I have face blindness so outer beauty literally means nothing to me. I see people's "inner beauty" or lack thereof and react accordingly. My feelings for everyone in my life are based on what I see "inside" them.

I do believe that the story of quosimodo can be a true fact of life. If you have inner beauty you are already a special person and you should not let the outer side of you black the beauty of the inner side that you have.

It's got to be true.

There are plenty of people who are beautiful, well-dressed and well-mannered,
and vicious and mean and ugly inside, so just by contrast, many are better than that.

The outside doesn't give the whole story, nothing like it.

But then many years of being shunned, passed over, ridiculed for one's appearance might be enough to scar or twist the inside, too.
"If they treat me like this, why should I not pay them back with the same coin?"

I believe it. Ok, I do tai chi, it's a kind of meditation among other things. When you do it for several hours each day you "atract" people. They get atracted to you, no matter what you look like, I've experienced it in my teacher. You want to be near him, talk to him, impress him, hear him talk. Feel his presence.

Sometimes I do tai chi for an hour, an hour and a half in the moring. Then I go shopping; haven't taken a bath, haven't combed my hair, stains on my clothes, and still people smile at me, want to talk to me. I ask a question to a clerk in the supermarket, he keeps talking, explaining, smiles to me the whole time. I radiate something. And I know what it is, it's what I experience with my teacher, it's inner beauty.

Meditation makes you beautifull on the inside.

well the old saying goes "if you want to be happy for life, make an ugly woman your wife"

i think this means the more someone needs you love (ie the less love they can get from others) the more they are going to love you

thats how i understand inner beauty.

My 10-year-old car looks like s**t but it runs great. I never wash it but I maintain it religiously. It's what inside that counts.

Inner beauty and outer beauty are not inversely related, because they are two completely unrelated things. Inner beauty is "true beauty", while outer beauty is aesthetic appeal. Both must be able to co-exist, as aesthetic appeal leads us to inner beauty.

I'm feeling philosophical today.

That's brilliant.

As far as inner beauty goes. It may have at one point been an interesting concept, but it's become so cliche' that it's lost a lot of meaning. I mean this in a symbolic/metaphorical way.

That's how I see it at least. People are not 'beautiful on the inside', they have various aspects that are either 'attractive' or 'deep'. (Beauty can mean many things, and virtually all of them seem to apply for 'inner')

So no, I don't think it's a myth.

For me I think that "Inner beauty" is appreciated by very few people that may have faces blindness or blinds(real blinds) ....

As for Quasimodo story , I think it s crap ....there s no way that a beautiful popular singer would love a handicaped person in body/face and in brain like Quasimodo for his "inner beauty"....it s a nice story but can't become true...

Stephen Hawking married his nurse in 1995...

Not likely, I'd give you. Most go by appearances, and declarations, sincere or insincere.
And the world's set up to encourage that.

I think we're confusing inner beauty with loyalty. Inner beauty has its limits, whereas loyalty does not.
