Every time a female states something along the lines of "Woah is me, I can't find a boyfriend cuz I'm socially awkward" or whatever reason, there are multiple offers from guys but whenever a guy says the same thing, the girls just say "Cheer up", "You need a better attitude", etc. Does anyone else find this funny?

Is the "inequality" between the sexes in the dating arena any more obvious? I mean, yes, I know girls like to think they have the exact same problems as guys, so guys are just belly aching, but there really seems to be a difference here. Note, I'm not belly aching myself as I haven't exactly had problems with the ladies, I just thought it's funny how naive some people are in their seeming egalitarian beliefs.

This is an over-simplified opinion, but (1) women seem to be attracted to men who express confidence, while men seem to be attracted to women who express vulnerability; and (2) Women seem to know this, while men seem to be oblivious to it.

Your opinions may vary...

There's more biological pressure on women to be choosy while it's exactly the opposite for men.

Surely, every male wants to be the White Knight, saving the damsel for distress (whichever kind of distress that may be).
And well, plain old male desperation. :o

I noticed that a lot myself. I think when women talk about how they cant get a date; what they really mean is that they cant get a date with the guys they want who are probably waaay out or their league. Whereas when a guy says he cant get a date; he means that he cant get a date at all. I think the problem is that women are assuming that the guys are using the word cant figuratively like they are & the women are also assuming that the guy is being picky & ruling women out like the women are ruling men out.

It's simple: When a girl says "I can't find a boyfriend", it means she can't find a boyfriend. When a guy says "I can't find a girlfriend" it means he can't find a girl to have sex with him for free. If all girls wanted was sex, they'd never complain.

There is definitely a double-standard with regard to showing/hiding misery. It seems fair game for women to use the dramatic exhibition of depression as a technique to gain both sympathy and sex-appeal. A man who tries this is told to "buck-up" and "assert more self confidence" (or called an emo-crybaby).

I have, on multiple occasions, encountered a heart-broken woman who will insinuate an interest in suicide, claiming noone in this world will ever love them. Of course, when I then offer to treat her to coffee or lunch, I get that cynical stare (you know the one).

(Do you know what it feels like to have death take priority over you as a contender for love? It feels f****n' strange. :? )

Next time a woman comes crying that way to coax out love, and then rejects me, I'm going to ask, "Could you tie the noose large enough for two necks?"
But I'm going to be ready, and snap a photograph her priceless offended facial expression, and paint it HUGE. :P And that portrait will reveal more about her personality than any photograph ever will.

Yes, I notice a double standard. It may be partially natural, but it is also a culturally derived form of sexism, aka bigotry.
I prefer women who are confident and successful, and am myself vulnerable and helpless. Go figure.

i think the opposie is also true - many men have a laundry list of what they want a girl to look like or act like, and they only ask out those particular women. guys who complain about not getting dates are rarely asking out 60-year old divorcees or single mothers, for example. so it's not like they can't get a date with ANYONE.

it's no different from women's choosiness, it is just expressed differently.

Generally speaking, the female has a certain type of man in mind and knows it. The male has a certain type of female in mind, and doesn't yet know it. He finds out when someone points out to him the women he is overlooking, or when he gets in a relationship with a woman he thought he wanted and finds the relationship doesn't work because he has standards she actually doesn't meet.

When a female belly aches about being lonely, guys jump at the chance of "getting laid by a desperato". They figure if she's that lonely, their chances of getting to the beef without spending a whole lot of cash is VERY possible. Women, on the other hand, figure that if a guy is SO lonely, he must be a loser. NOBODY is a loser. Life and love are chance things. Do you jump at the chance of going out with a girl who complains she's lonely?

Actually, in either case ... male or female ... what I think is that people who do the "woe is me" thing don't really want constructive information about how they might improve their chances.

What they really want instead is someone to commiserate with them, and tell them that "yes, you're right ... it's the fault of everyone else and there's nothing you can do about it." That relieves them of any burden of trying to figure out a solution on their own.

I jumped at the chance of getting a date when I heard women talk about being lonely. It was NEVER about trying to to get laid for me. I'm a borderline asexual. I was desperate for love NOT sex & those desperate women would not even give me half a chance

So is the hand you're dealt in poker or Mahjong, and those have losers.
