So I'm at this club in NYC watching a concert (Ghostland Observatory) minding my own business standing near the back observing the goings-on, all of a sudden I feel an arm around my waist: it's and extremely cute blonde asking me what I did for a living!

She asks me my name, I find out hers (Laura! like on "Little House on the Prairie" although I quickly determined that she did not, in fact, live on the prairie ) We chatted a little bit (the music was VERY loud) and I found out that we worked in the same industry and knew a few things in common.

Then she introduces me to her 4 very cute friends! Then she walks away to watch the concert some more.

Anyway, the concert ends, the house lights come up and I...pull out my iPad and pretend to read it. I did manage a sort of lame Aspie smirk at one of them, but I hadn't the slightest idea what to do so that was the end of the matter.

But it was SO cool that it actually happened! Who cares if I didn't know what to do...

That's all for now, I need to get my story out to CNN, the BBC, Associated Press, New York Times, etc... 8)

This is why I love living in big cities. So many things happen : ) . I miss it.

I was glad to read this post! It's good for the ego isn't it? You were nice enough to respond to my thread about a similar incident, so I'm glad I can do the same. I'm glad to read you aren't following my bad example by beating yourself up about not having a perfect ending. Appreciate the situation for what it was. Getting the ego boosted can be so important for the next time! I try to imagine what the female in these type of situations is thinking. She probably was hoping you would ask for her phone number, since she made the first move, she would figure the ball was then in your court. Theory of mind in this type of situation is tough enough for NT's let alone those with Aspie traits. I guess you never can be sure until you ask. Like I said in that other thread, its all part of the process. Progress! Congrats! :)

Yeah, it's great for the ego - but what's wrong with that? It's progress and that's a huge help at this point... :)

That was exactly my point. I only mentioned the part about theory of mind, etc in reference to the next time.
