It's always been that the guy makes the first contact or rather makes the first move as far as dating. But do any girls actually do this? I mean, maybe I can find a friend if they start talking, but unless even that happens I don't think I can bring it to that level on first meeting.

I have been known to make the first move. Honestly, though, the other person generally has to initiate a friendship with me. Not because I prefer them to... because I'm oblivious to when someone is interested in talking to me. I don't generally have anything to say.

I only go for people I have gotten to know, so I don't hit on strangers or acquaintances.

I've made the first move before as far as asking out a guy I already knew as a friend or coworker, but have never approached a guy 'cold' before. Honestly, it's hard for me to imagine ever doing that ...

It happens. If you're not seeng it it's maybe a question of not being in the right places for it. Or not being around enough women. They can be as direct as men, and half as forgiving.

But unless you're very good looking I think you're better off leading the charge in most cases.

I remember someone saying they were going to a renaissance fair and I spotted them sitting in the grass. There was no one sitting close to them so I just went and sat down. I can't even remember what I said. I was interested and then they just told me what was happening. I wish it was always that easy.

I have also been friends with a guy so handsome that girls would walk up and give him there number. At the mall and even as we were getting food at a drive thru. I couldn't believe that actually could happen but it does.

There are lots of women who do that when they are drunk in social stations

Yeah, but from my experience, they're usually more subtle about it. Best way to describe it is that their body language and mannerisms are begging you to ask them out. Needless to say, I cocked up and didn't notice the advance and blew a chance.

Yeah, it has happened to me, some more obvious than others. I remember driving down the highway with a friend a few years ago. We were talking about dating and women when all of a sudden I had an epiphany. I realized this girl I had been interested in ten years ago actually hit on me, but I didn't realize it at the time. How's that for a delayed reaction?

I've even had the secret admirer experience, with anonymous gifts.

But nothing came of these incidents as my then-undiagnosed Aspieness threw a wrench into all of it.

There are some that do, but guys should always try to make the first move.
