If anime is a passion of yours, I've seen a bit of groups on meetup.com which are centered on it. If one were to live in Japan, I do not think this would be an issue lol. I like anime, I just don't have the time to devote to be a huge fan.

It's not. But I'm always hearing about anime lovers who can't get a girlfriend.

I dislike anime, but funny thing is I love video games, and would easily dress up for a video game con :P

It's just because the majority of anime lovers are introvert males.

I'm married and we both love anime. We know several other couples into anime as well.

I don't like anime and don't get dates. Well, to be fair, I do like some, like Record of Lodoss War, or Hellsing, but I like classic western cartoon series and comics much better than manga anime. Anime, Manga and JRPGs seem to be good rolemodels for males who seem to be unable to express their feelings or put up with women in general. Allthough I have to say that the cliché is true for one of my best friends. He is nowhere near anything on the spectrum, he is just a small, beardy oddball phycisist who is totally into anything Japan, and he is even more inept at dealing with women than I am. His social ineptness in basically limited to that, but I think his... geekyness when it comes to Japan is not a huge turn on for most women. Not even for the women he used to go to college with. I know some of them, and boy, even though they are nerdy as hell, they seem to be... not that much attracted to his faible.

Geek men are universally not desirable, even by their female counterparts.

Plenty of geek guys do the deadly mistake of seeking only geek girls, either because they want parallel partner or by thinking they would have more chance with them. Wrong.

The guys they date might be geeks, but not the developmentally arrested kind.

i don't watch anime but see nothing wrong with those who do... it's when you begin to source values or behaviors or your identity from cartoon characters that's a bit un-nerving. I had a room mate who sometimes behaved in real life like he was living in the anime he watched... :? he would use the values and lessons learned from the cartoons he watched to approach situations in real life and we never got along because of it.

Not true. I visit a lot of geek venues over the years, and you see a lot of geek girls with geeky guys.

If there's any mistake made by geek guys, it's taking geeky girls for granted. He sees a geeky girl and thinks that because she's a geek, he doesn't have to try as hard, or that she should be grateful for his presence.

It's a common misconception.

Anime presents an ideal in terms of personality and body time. Tsundere's are typically slim whilst the "moe" characters are curvy as all hell. So when we try to apply that to real life, we find that the really cute girls are slim whilst the tsundere's are curvy.

Fortunately, we have conventions to go hunti...I mean browsi...I mean...f**k. >.<

Try and find conventions and go to 'em. If you can find a girl that loves anime, games or sci-fi books or even tentacle porn as much as you do, she's the one.
