I have a crush on a friend who is also on the spectrum and I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on this letter.

To whom it may concern:
Sorry, I had to steal that; it was too funny not to.
I really like that we’ve been getting closer lately and I have so much fun spending time with you. One of the best things about our friendship is the openness and honesty we have with each other. I feel like I can tell you things I can’t tell most people (which is saying a lot because I have a big mouth). It’s because of that honesty I felt you should know that my feelings for you have been becoming more than platonic lately. There have been a number of times lately that I’ve had the urge to kiss you.
The last thing I want is to make things awkward between us, but I felt you should know. There’s no expectation of you to reciprocate or even respond if you’re uncomfortable.

Yes, it's cute. But, it would be much better (IMO) if you could say all this in person. Why do you need to send a letter?

I say scrap the letter, go for the kiss and run away all embarrased. Then explain your change in feelings later.

@The_face_of_boo
I just turned 30 and he is 23.

@Rainingroses
Last time I talked to him he told me about someone who once caught him off-guard by telling him in person that they wanted to make out with him and he got too awkward and didn't know what to do. He's socially awkward in the cutest way.

@lilypadfad
He's huge on consent talk (as am I) and I wouldn't want to risk our friendship by crossing a line he didn't want me to.

:) sennnnnd iiiiiiit

i once replaced the little paper fortunes inside fortune cookies with printed messages for a guy i was pursuing and carefully resealed them in plastic. instead of the lottery numbers on the back, it was the digits of my phone number in 3 parts. i gave them to him over 3 days as a sort of "secret" admirer.

did i end up dating him? no....
was it awkward after that? a little....
am i glad i tried? OH YEAH!! !

^Awesome stunt!

I always asf myself, will I regret not taking this action whatever the consequences. If I know its yes, then I just do it and have never been mad at myself since.

I sent it yesterday. I'm pretty sure he read it at this point, but no response yet. I really don't experience one tho. I intentionally gave him an out on that one. I'm sure I'll see him soon, and see what happens.

That's a great message--everything is clearly communicated and I can relate to it all. I would have tried saying that all in person, but if the idea of that that makes you too squeamish, then it's good you sent it in writing.

thanks! and that is exactly my philosophy too! it goes against my grain in a sense, but i appreciate it in the end. i've experienced awesome things by just acting in the face of worry instead of allowing myself to instinctively retreat.

Yeah I hope he doesn't freak and/or run...
I would have thought that most guys would respond favorably to most female friends doing this, but I guess it's still not guaranteed.
