Honestly it's better to join youth clubs and groups in your area locally, talking to girls on the internet won't help very much because you're not processing body language or tone and you're not pushing yourself out of your comfort zone either so it's not challenging you. Long distance relationships also never work.

Excuse me, i never said anything about a relationship. I just want some girls to talk to before i set out in the real world. Maybe you have more luck then me with women, but i need all the practice i can get. Despite my good looks i am horrible with women. I even get some girls that comes up to me, but i get nervous and it always fails because i can't talk with them.

You might have better luck here http://www.facebook.com/ASNfindApenpal?ref=ts where people are looking for penpals.

Most members around here feel awkward PMing someone they dont know unless something they wrote piqued their interest(similar situation, cool hobby they would like to hear more about...).

Trust me, there's no point faffing about online talking to girls in an attempt to build confidence, it's like playing a driving video game or reading about driving compared to actually driving a car. You need to practical experience and you need to push out of your comfort zone and start approaching women in real life to overcome your fear of rejection.

Some sort of ego boost can be helpfull before trying luck in the real world and Ive found that online friendships can be this boost. However what worked for one person doesnt mean that its going to work for you(dont want to get your hopes up yet).

^

I'm a complete hippo since I don't go out of my comfort zone or talk to any real life females myself, but I agree with this.

If you want to talk to girls 16+ the only thing you need to do is show respect.

^ Not this.

Unless you're keen on the idea of sucking up, putting a girl on a pedestal and becoming a lapdog or emotional tampon.

I think that the main concept is that everything has to be done in moderation.

You have to show them some respect(as you should show some respect to everyone you meet) but you have to be careful with showing too much respect towards them/being taken advantage of because of this(as it happens with males you meet daily since Ive been taken advantage of by both genders because of this in the past)
