I wonder what will become the fate of physical beauty within those, especially in America, as being overweight is becoming more accepted and everything else? I do know that personality really counts, but what I want is a "10" while I'm still young and I don't feel I have the financial means to travel somewhere else. For example, I read a study long time ago (can't remember it) that our obesity/overweight vice will near 100%. Do you believe there is any scientific proof for this?

Well, would an overweight girl be that bad really? I'm 5-10 and build like a stripper from the neck down. From the neck up, it all goes to hell. I'm not all that pretty in the face, but that's why I've developed a personality.

I was guilty of the same pickiness as you back when I was single. And I might be single again very soon if things keep going the way they are, and I feel like I deserve guys that are totally out of my league. I have usually managed to get them too. Looks are very important to me, which is odd because I'm offended if a guy doesn't like me because I don't have a very pretty face. Well, I used to, and I probably would feel that way again after the divorce.

I have found though, that if you date somebody purely for looks, you sacrifice something else. I once dated the, I swear to God, best looking man I have ever seen. He was gorgeous. All my friends were jealous. I could sit and look at him all night. The problem was, he was flat out stupid. I mean truly stupid. No disorder or anything, he was just stupid. I could not stand to hear him talk. I dated him for about six months until I just couldn't stand it anymore when he opened his mouth to speak.

I changed my standards some after that, and dated some very interesting guys. I once dated a guy who was very overweight, short and not attractive just because he was rich. I felt horrible and couldn't do that more than a week. We stayed friends though. I truly enjoyed his company but not in a romantic way.

My point is, the better looking you find, the more of a problem there will be, in my experience. My soon to be possibly ex husband is very good looking, always was. But he's got a drinking problem and can't show emotion.

Which do you want satisfied in life more, your head or your body? It's rare to get the top drawer with both.

I'm just an average guy at best, When I was very young I thought the same thing, I'd like a 10, but soon realized that number means nothing.

My former wife looked like a 9 but acted like a 4, selfish, non realistic, not all that bright, n needy.

After my divorice I dated a 10 imo but was dumb, materalistic, and stuck up always obsessing on her looks. and how others viewed her.
I dated another that was definatly not a 10, we got along great, I could actually speak outloud the words that were about to come out of her mouth The thing that ruined that was her attitude, wining, complaining.
I dated a bigger girl that just went along with everything and anybody constantly changing as the surroundings/ people changed. She drank quite a bit also
There were others but I think you get the idea

when you are in your early 20's, being fit is a standard.

40's and 50's, you don't really stand out if you are fat.

Really, would you expect anything else?

Also, I'm not at all sure how more and more people becoming overweight can be equated with overweight and obesity becoming more acceptable.

Societal "norms" and preferences are not created or propagated by the majority, but by the powerful and privileged few.

And, frankly, "physical beauty" wouldn't meet it's "fate" even if being overweight or obese became beautiful- it would be returning to the norm of the vast majority of human existence after a mere few decades of deviation.

Step aside, '3', you're wasting my time, I have to catch '10'.
