Us Aspies tend to be shy too & we're also naturally awkward so it can sometimes be very hard to tell if we like someone. Also we may not show that we like the other because we may of not considered that she/he may like us so we kind of ignore the feelings. We tend to majorly s#ck at taking hints so being more direct is usually best

As nick007 said, asking is good because a lot of Aspies are too shy to come out with it themselves.

As for other ways to tell, well it differs from person to person, but the standard signs like more shyness than normal, saying silly things, acting generally nervous, and so on likely apply.
