Every now and then I see people talk about how a man needs to not think of women as sex objects because women can pick up on that!!

Well thats not true, because if it was I would imagine the phrase "he seemed so nice" would be uttered alot less frequently then it is. Now I'm not condoning treating women like sex objects, no in fact I'm very much against that. But with exception of a rare few, most women feel just as lost as men when it comes to judging someone else's intentions.

Now of course someone could allways be wearing their intentions on their shoulder but even I have found instead of even bothering to look most people seem to just go with whatever assumptions they've made, be them completely wrong or not.

Women and men are the same in this field, and thinking one gender has an edge over the other is just a recipe for disastrous miscommunication.

I blame the magazines.

They kinda brainwash the readers that women have some sort of hidden mind-reading power and hidden antennas that can pick up "vibes".

I disagree, I firmly believe that women are mind reading aliens from the planet of Xai'tak'moaban.

No. But they are body language readers and facial expression and eye contact readers. Women are more adept at this than men.

An AS man is (forgive me - don't shoot the messenger) likely utterly clueless when it comes to such things. So they go out on a date with an NT female, and have no clue why the woman basically ran away.

yes exactly. just because one man or woman misreads intentions doesn't mean that the rest are blind. often people second-guess their instincts too, so they come up with excuses as to why they made a mistake by denying there were signs in the first place

of course, it's BOTH men and women who can sense things and BOTH men and women that sometimes make mistakes

Yes thats true, it is possible for humans to develop those kind of senses, but whether one human has an advantage over the other has nothing to do with gender. Its more about the development of social skills and the ability to make quick adjustment of your own feelings. But even best social analyst whos an expert in reading body language can make many misstakes simply because they are part of the system they are analyzing.

They seem to be able to read my mind, since I get regular sandwich deliveries from untold numbers of unfamiliar women

Ya know, I've talked to two psychics in my life, both were women and both I'd swear - between my cousin and my coworker's favorite reader, just cold read and thought they were telling me something. Your making me wonder though... did I jump too hastily to a metaphysical conclusion against psychic ability?

(okay....I'll be fair since you don't know me - that was a joke :) - welcome to WP!)

I don't know about mind reading, but I was cheated out of a possible relationship with someone who I thought was perfect for me because she based my entire personality on things she completely assumed about me.

For example, she accused me of being "weak" and being "unable to communicate" because I asked for advice. How does that constitute a major personality flaw? She was very secretive (yet denying it), yet she twisted the story around to make it look like I was not making any effort to get to know her, when in reality, I was busting my butt trying to get to know her. I can't psychically know what she would want me to ask her.

And because of that, I have to pretend to be somebody else to be able to have a relationship.
