For those who are/have been in relationships, how did you meet and get together?

3 years of school until a friend found out I liked her. That friend then didn't shut up until I asked her out.

We met at work and we'd known each other for nearly two years before we got together. He liked me for ages and everyone at work knew except me. When he asked me out I was a bit unsure as I take a bit longer than most to work out how I feel about people. I'm glad I said yes in the end, because we've been together for four and a half years now.

Online. We met on MapleStory and then met in real life shortly after.

Our paths used to cross on the way to our respective schools, and I caught his eye. One day, he plucked up the nerve to ask for my phone number and it all went from there! It's been 7 years now

My first ex messaged me on mypspace about video games telling me we should get together and play them.

My second ex messaged me on a kinky dating site and we got together not too long later.

My husband messaged me on an adult website and we got together three weeks later. We are still together.

My girlfriend and I met at a Hallow's Eve Masquerade ball hosted by the university anime club, about 5 minutes after I had finished a fortune-telling session with my friend Shinta, who foretold that I would meet someone in the near future who would become a very important figure in my life.

I was complaining because the night previous I had been shot down by a girl I had asked to the dance... and by shot down I mean taking a Sidewinder air-to-air missile up the tailpipe and bailing out at 30,000 feet only to find the parachute had jammed (a joke that my friend Kidd, who is in Air Force ROTC, found very amusing). Thus, when the slow song came on I was up the dancefloor without a partner. Finally Trish came up to me in her Japanese geisha costume and said "Instead of bitching about not having a partner, why don't you ask someone?" to which I replied "Ok, would you care to dance?" to which she replied "Sure." Afterwards we started talking at club meetings, and what do you know, we started dating a month later.

Oh, and I so totally believe in fortune-telling now.

My current boyfriend and I got together wgen he came over to my place with some mates to play board vames. We started talking and he had been lurking on here for a while and knew who I was. We didn't hook up right away but were just being friends until we talked about it and because I was seeing someone long distance and planned to travel overseas to see this other person, he told me that he would wait until I got back. I broke it off with the other man as soon as i knew i had any feelings for my boyfriend because it is only fair to be 100% commited to one person at a time.

We met right here on WP and have been blissfully happy for almost four years now.

Most of the responses suggest that the relationships didn't happen randomly in a social way.As in a guy see's a girl he likes goes over to her and start's up a conversation.I think that would be very hard for many Aspie men to do Perhaps Aspie men [and women ] should look for all of the advantages available to them .If one is weak in one area[social skills] maybe they can compensate by being strong in another way.

Apparently my boyf spend weeks moaning to his Mum about wanting to speak to me and being too nervous, and she told him to grow a pair! He kinda just stuttered and rambled at me for 5 mins! Quite sweet really! All my friends assumed he'd be super creepy when I told them about it!

I was transferred into their class for naughty behavior I watched my partner from behind my stacks of books and became enamored by the way they interacted with their environment. (i.e. not at all ) My partner is very clever and recognized my simultaneously rebellious and timid nature for what it was and we just sort of fit together quite well and made mutual steps forward to get to know each other better. After a little over 4 months of getting acquainted, we went on our first solitary "date"..we went ice skating and it was a spectacularly strange choice on my part given my lack of coordination it gave us an excuse to hold hands though through gloves. How titillating.

It's great that you were receptive and understanding.The fact he was able to talk to you [if only for 5 minutes] was certainly a success story for him .He probably wouldn't see it that way if you had rejected him but he obviously found something that he liked about you .
