Is my OKCupid profile interesting or too weird?

So I decided to make an OKCupid account yesterday because of all the talk about it... But like haven't gotten any messages yet and everyone I've heard from says they get messages like every day. Just wondering if there is anything wrong with my profile that would scare people off or whatever...?

Yeah. Too weird...and a little vulgar. This will keep the females away for sure! The words you need to get rid of are sh*t, dildos, bipolar, eccentric, a**, arguing with angry folks on the internet, and pen*s. I do get the fact you're being truthful - this is an aspie trait - but now is the time to bend the truth a little.

It's not instant. Be patient :) and I would take out the Dragon Dildos thing (and pretty much the bits the above post suggested). Some other recommendations:

I would attempt restructuring a lot of the sentences and paragraphs. It seems long, intense, negative. The thing is though you have a lot of positive things to say about yourself which is fantastic. And those are positives. But because of the structure of the profile it all seems negative.

*You could omit most of the beginning of "What I'm doing with my life" and keep it brief, explaining you are looking into helping other teens and perhaps other age groups with Bipolar. Then go on to say you work on your own film projects because you are an aspiring film director. You also do voice acting work and a webcomic. All in all you are a potential media mogul with some artistic flare!

*You're really good at:
---The above things ?
---Being young, happy and free?
---Thinking ?
---Computer stuff (like C++ programming, you put that in your languages bit as a joke I guess!)

Favourite media:
Just break it up into categories and list the names of the bands, films etc. only. At the end maybe tack on you are open to new stuff and are eclectic (of course in your own words) as this seems to be the case.

The six things you couldn't do without:
This is great :) it's quirky, simple and will do fine.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit:
Unless you want your PM's to be of a sexual nature, or have sexual tension reword or just remove the penis thing. As for the Star Wars bit, just say "I'm an nerd but I don't like Star Wars" or something brief like that.

I guess, but if I get involved with somebody from the site shouldn't they know i'm a bit of a "vulgar" person. I mean in my opinion words are just words.

Remember that that is just your opinion, and not necessarily the opinion of your audience. There's no harm in sharing that you are vulgar, but you don't need to prove you are vulgar to do this. Just say you have a wicked sense of humour. The thing is a lot of people have your sense of humour and relaxation with words, though being able to exert control and determine the right time and place to use this language is what separates you from people that are simply rude and inconsiderate.

Okay I tried changing it around a bit, I'm a bit confused as to what you meant on the "favorite media" part. Didn't I do that? And I fixed the private I'll admit thing. I was trying to be a bit snarky and humorous but I guess it is a bit too far.

Dragon dildos might scare some people off..


I never used to get any messages at all, and my profile was very similar to yours..

Cool, cool. Oh about that I meant just remove the things like "I dunno", the hesitant language that does not contribute to the list. End of the day a lot of info but in brief, concise chunks is what people are more likely to read.

My profile is successful in getting initial messages.

It got like 5 initial messages and positive (yet bit shocked) feedback about it.

However, it is very ...very weird.

I've always had trouble with that too, rate of disclosure. Once someone is comfortable with you, you can do that all you want. But first impressions are important. A first impression doesn't have to be good, it just can't be bad enough that you can't build on it.

On a typical Friday night I am
Spending far too much time arguing about the philosophy of Pokemon with random angry individuals on the internet.

Arguing about Pokemon algorithms over the Internet. Simpler, more to the point, and funnier. And it says the same thing.

So if you write it more like that, you can say the same thing, but say it better.

I just read it and it sounds pretty good. I would take out the reference to bipolar, and also anime and pokemon but I like the rest of it. I'm guessing that I'm not reading the original version.

The reason for taking out the bipolar is that can turn people off because they may expect that you are way over the top bipolar. I'd save that information for someone after a few dates. Unless of course you are way over the top bipolar and in that case it might be good to let them know up front.

The reason for taking out anime and pokemon is just that I don't like them. ;-) I assume you are probably looking for somebody who shares your interests so it's really probably best to leave them in.

My BIL put up an ad on one site recently. It says "My name is J***, I'm 50 years old and I live with my mother". He actually lives there and takes care of her so she doesn't have to go to a nursing home, but he's gotten some hits on it.

-Your main photo is scary.
-Remove the word nerd, try to define yourself with another word..... or just describe yourself, damn it, no need for a label. It's ok to leave the C++ there tho.
-Remove the video games, 90% of guys play video games nowadays and 90% of girls hate them, even the most extrovert ones guys play games nowadays (and they really can be good at them and obsessive even more than many geeks), try to mention other things you are good at other than vid games.
-Mention some book names.
-The Metaphysics is a fine one, talk a little more about it, it would make you look smart rather than appearing like a typical socially-idiot geek.
- The most private thing is good.
- Just for new friends? are you sure???
