I have known several girls in my life that this has happened with. Throughout school, and even a little bit beyond, these girls wouldn't give me the time of day, and as so much as tried to avoid me, and throught pretty low of me. I was never trying to even date them, but just wanted them to at least acknowledge my existance as a human being. Well, after they got married, that changed everything. Suddenly, they are smiling and waving at me, and chatting with me, and just being totally friendly...not flirtatious mind you, but just being nice and sociable.

For example, this one girl goes to my church. Throughout high school and college I came across her right often. I would say high to her, and she would just look away. She even started some rumors about me back in high school that weren't very nice. Well, she got married about 3-4 years ago, and moved into the same neighborhood near my sister. Now, when she sees me at church she greets me with a big smile and comes up, hugs me, asks me about my nieces and chats it up with me.

Another girl was not quite so bad as she was, but rarely ever said anything to me or returned conversation. I saw her in the supermarket before thanksgiving, and she too greeted me with a smile, and introduced her family to me.

What gives with this? Is this a change brought on by leaving school and getting out in the "real world" or is it some sort of enlightenment that occurs after marriage? Although I know I don't have a chance with them now as they are settled down with their own families, but something in my mind says I could have had a chance with them if they would have just gotten to know me a bit more. Anybody else ever had this same scenario play out with the females in your life?

My guess is that it is probably a combination of maturity and the fact that they are now off the market.
