Do any other people get obsessed with a member of the opposite sex and start showing "stalkerish" behaviour? I have done this for years, and often I can't control it, it hasn't happened as much as it used to though. I remember the first time it happened was in Grade Six, and I wanted to get this girl's phone number and email address :(

The second time was Grade Seven and it was because this girl was the only one who was willing to dance with me at the dance

I've also had people obsessions throughout the years, starting when I was around six years old. I wouldn't do any obvious "stalking" type behavior, but I'd do things like write stories and poems about the person I liked and compile information about them like their addresses, phone numbers and family member's names.

I'm glad that yours have now toned down. Have you been using any strategies to limit and/or control them?

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

I only did it like real recently, and it was a total mistake. Its not something habitual for me or something I've done repeatedly for a long time. It was with a good friend, and I apologized for it after the fact, The lessons I've taken away from it is not to build a fantasy around any given person, because then I'm too focused on realizing the fantasy (imagining being with them in a long term relationship, going for walks on the beach, making out, etc) and not just getting to know the person more or interacting with them in a spontaneous way.

I wouldn't go so far as to use the term "stalking" but yes, I tend to focus all my energies on one and only one woman at a time. When the inevitable rejection or brush off comes, I find it very hard to deal with to say the least. It's like a cycle I can't stop: when you doesn't work out, spend a week obsessing over it before doing the exact same thing all over again. I've tried to break that habit recently and it's been easier due to the fact I'm tried of dealing with self-entitled, spoiled princesses who live in a fantasy world.
