Ok, it must be because of my time in the military where I developed a super thick skin about this issue (and just about everything else), but here's some feedback I got on my POF profile that made me laugh:

Quote:
"I want this to sound as nice as possible but every single one of your pictures are horrible, I had to check to see if you said you did drugs because in every picture you look super high. You need to take pictures where you are smiling and have your eyes open, looking somewhere near the camra lens. Your 'About Me' is fine a little short but mostly your pictures are just awful."

Ok, first of all, I've never done drugs in my life. It's actually my autism. Not sure what I can do about that.

Any suggestions?

I CAN'T open my eyes very wide. It may be a sensory issue because I'm very sensitive to light, or my eyes are just naturally like Asian eyes, even though I'm white. Probably the bags, too.

Here's the link to my profile. Not sure it's visible to non-members, but anyway:

http://www.pof.com/viewprofile.aspx?profile_id=50009182.

The first two photos are from 2009. The last one is recent. It's been hard to get good, recent photos. I suspect I've just simply aged prematurely. I definitely feel old after all I've been through in the past 3-4 years. Any way to minimize the effect?

The last picture is pretty unflattering (and you do look pretty baked) but I don't see what's wrong with the other two. You look happy!

Uninvited harsh criticism (and therefore rude). Sounds like the sender had a bowl of bitchy for breakfast.

I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with your pics whatsoever.

The first two pictures were from 2009, and I've been through a lot of external hardship as well as major depression (bipolar?) since then, so I may just have aged prematurely. Is that it, or is there something I can do to take good, recent photos?

I also had friends back then, so I could take more "interactive" photos, and I really don't now, 5 moves and 2 continents later. It seems like all my recent photos look awful in some way, even if they are taken outdoors.

FYI, I've never done drugs in my life.

Imo first two photos aren't bad, but the last one...

It's 2013, dude. You should try to take some more recent photos if you don't really look like that anymore. The last picture is unflattering mostly because it's taken from far too low an angle. I can see right up your nostrils! Try to take some pictures at eye level, and if possible, in a more interesting setting than in front of your computer.

Don't get too hung up on the drugs thing, you don't look like a junky or anything.

I didn't look at the pictures, but I can't put a nice smile on my face if I want to. People always tell me I look stern or too serious. It goes with the territory of being autistic. Be brave.

Edit: I was able to look at your profile. It looks great. The last picture looks like a Hermosa Beach cool dude hang'n out on the Strand. Veteran and JD are good. Don't worry. You should be proud of yourself.

Well, I'm not high, or hungover, in the recent photo. That is what I look like all the time, and I'm not sure I do enough interesting stuff to get photos like I had before. Not sure who would even take them. It's hardly surprising that I look busted because I sort of am, between major depressive disorder and ridiculous mood swings, my deployment, etc., and then all the other stuff that happened, some of which might have put most NT's in the asylum.

I'm thinking of just deleting my profile, as it seems like a lost cause, if it's impossible to get good, recent photos.

You're not a lost cause. For you, it's just a matter of time. Stick with it.

Well you appear to own a webcam. Can't you just take a new photo right now? Obviously a picture of you engaging in some activity would be preferable, but if that's not a possibility right now it's not the end of the world.

Chicks love a guy in uniform. Post your dress uniform portrait.

Wolfie Boy offers some pretty good advice when he recommends forking over a few bucks to get some professional photos done.

You'd definitely place or even win in a Duke Nukem lookalike contest. :D

This is a good idea, as is the dress uniform portrait, though it would be 3 years old now. Thanks!

I get way worse comments than that all the time. At least 3 times a week. Don't worry about it. It doesn't sound like it's a common occurrence for you (it shouldn't be since you seem to fit the mold for looks that women like). I do understand about it being laughable at best, though.
