I was in a relationship which was pretty serious with a guy in the USA, he had been here, we met in person, we had been Facebook friends for years, we were really discussing our future seriously, and then last week, he came up here with his father.

They left on the next possible flight out, they were supposed to stay a few days. His father sent my mother a message on Facebook saying he can't get married or have kids, no sense of money, and all these things. He wanted my mum to delete the message so me or the guy didn't see it somehow. My mum doesn't hide anything from me. Then his dad sent me a message making like things were okay, we could get married but November was too soon, and about me going there to visit.

It's over... his father really messed up things.

Very strange behaviour. If there is a way, the man will tell you himself and not have his father do the work. I would hope you get some sort of explanation from the now ex.

I'm sorry this happened, but from the sound of things, it may have been inevitable. Is your boyfriend still living at home? Is he working? Can he manage day-to-day living without help? Unless all three answers are yes, he's not ready for marriage.

That was strange I see, but I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you'll be fine.

I'm so tired of hurt and broken promises. I'm not sure how to meet anyone.

We met in real life and everything was fine until his dad got involved.
