Does it take you a while to realize that you are in love?

So I have been seeing this guy who I think has AS for the past six months. We've slept together several times and do things together but he has a high powered position and a very unitrack mind (hyperfocus), which means that when he can usually focus on one thing at a time.

In the beginning, he used to tell me "I like you". Recently, he has started mirroring my words and statements and saying "I really like you and the sex is amazing". I told him I love him but he hasn't said it back. Do you think it's because he doesn't love me, he has not processed his feelings yet, or that he simply doesn't know how he feels?

He also recently told me that he has had a few dreams with me in them.
