As in your relationship song? I wanted mine and DH's to be "Whiter Shade of Pale" but he says it's "Over the Hills and Far Away".

our wedding songs were "one hand, one heart" from "west side story", a Unitarian hymn called "come sing a song with me" and hubby picked "morning has broken."

I've never actually had the conversation with her, but this is the one I've always considered for it, at least before the relationship became official.

Dont have one myself.

Two lady friends who are best friends with each other both had the same song as "their song" in each of their marriages. One of them said "when 'your song' is this particular song - it shoulda been a danger sign". Both ladies were already divorced when they meet each other.

This song that they both had had as "their song" in their one time marriages was: "Lyin' Eyes" , by the Eagles.

No wonder they are both divorced!

For me, picking a song wasn't about describing him or the relationship, it was about the fact that it was playing during a memorable moment or it was popular when we first started dating or we heard it on the radio a lot, etc. That's how Whiter Shade of Pale became our song, at least in my head. For him it was about describing his feelings for me. I've also heard some people pick a song they both love a lot and that's how it becomes their song.

What criteria do all ya'll use to pick "your song"? Also, am I the only one who picks it based on the things I base it on, or am I just weird? lol

He disagrees, but I am pretty sure it's "I'm sexy and I know It". Yes, OliveOilMom, I used the same criteria as you. I think this came about when I made a comment about his high level of self-esteem. He jokingly said "Yeah, I'm dead sexy." "And you know it", I said, referencing the much played song. He is a fan of LMFAO and the joke became a thing.

I've never felt the need/desire to have an "our song".

It's either Yiruma's "Love Me", or it's "Clair de Lune" by Debussy (which I learned to play, so it's probably better if it's that one, lol)

Or... Now I'm just confused.. I'd better check it sometime soon.

So "your song" is a song about a guy with a hangover trying to keep from barfing !

Lol!

Interesting.

Thats still better than a song about infidelity( like 'Lyin' Eyes') for couples' song.

I had no idea that's what it was about. I honestly have no idea what it's about at all, I just like how it sounds. It doesn't make much sense to me actually, but when we first started dating I played it over, and over, and over for a couple of days. Literally. On his stereo. We had only been going out a couple of weeks and I stayed over at his place for a few days (cuddling at night but no sex yet) and everytime it would go off I would get up and go and play it again. I guess that would have been enough to make lots of other guys not go anywhere near me again, the same song, over, and over, and over, but he was ok with it.

Playing the same some over and over again is quite nice actually, I do it all the time - even on the piano.
I can see why you did it, you're listening to a nice song and you just want to stay in the moment.
At least, that's what it is for me.

Exactly. And he was ok with it.
