I just saw this interesting article about dating on the Guardian newspaper website:-

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog ... sul-dating

"Amy Webb took a new approach to online dating: gaming the system to find a partner. See how she did it - and find out how to create our own dataset for love"

It's also got a good 'infographic' on creating a good dating site profile

I understand why not kids, but why it's not ok to post pics with your pet?

Quote:
Date Number One asked me out to a really nice restaurant, then didn’t offer to pay for (or even split!) the bill. He ordered a very expensive bottle of wine and two appetizers — neither of which I got to enjoy — before moving on to a three-course meal. While walking back to our cars, he suddenly diverted to a public park bench where he asked if I wanted a smoke. He then lit the shaggy end of a large marijuana joint right in front of an assortment of passersby. He mentioned something about his weed habit and impotence, but by then I was already running toward my car

Hahahaha this is so hilarious. and creepy.

There is an excerpt from her book, which includes her list of 72 "necessary" traits, on slate.com .
"Data: A Love Story. The algorithms, statistics, charts, and lists I used to game online dating and find my match."

This is a better article!

"By now, the waitstaff and bartenders knew me by name. For the past few months, I’d been having drinks at Longshots with different men at least twice a week. I never stayed more than an hour and always made at least two trips to the bathroom. They must have suspected me of something, though they weren’t quite sure of what. Was I a drug dealer? A prostitute for men with a haggard-office-lady fetish? What was in that huge bag of mine?"

'A prostitute for men with a haggard-office-lady fetish' Lol :D

Honestly this same statistical data gathering would not work for men the way it does for women.... nor would it likely work for ANYONE who doesn't live in a place as big as NYC or LA..

She also has a TED talk (although it is only mildly interesting):
"Amy Webb: How I hacked online dating"
