So we have had several of this threads over time but I dont think we have had any of them recently and I needed an excuse to promote the new guidelines in case anyone missed them.

The question itself is very simple.
Do you put yourself on plenty of dating sites? do you approach people you find interesting on said sites?

Do you join things like dancing clubs where you might meet someone of the opposite sex in a similar situation because online dating is too much effort for you?

What do you guys do?

Personally getting myself out of the house to meet people once a week is tiring enough but I have been trying to expand a little lately because I wasnt meeting anyone single within my age range.
While polite interactions are more than ok after a year of those I think I am ready to move forward so I am trying to reconnect with a group of people closer to my age this month and have had somewhat positive results(met twice, no real issues, everyone is closer to my age...).

I'm not on any dating sites. While I've been in relationships, had one-night stands and so on in the past, I have no time for it when I'm working on my thesis. I'm sure there will be plenty of time to date once I get 130 hours of spare time per week, plus enough money to actually make use of this spare time.

First off, are you serious about this ok-cupid thing? I'll never post again in l&d if you are.

Alex said that he will get around to it when the new version rolls out so this could take a while to take effect.

I just thought today was a good day to get everyone started on the new guidelines.
All major companies seem to be releasing important statements today so why shouldnt we ?

Why? What does it matter what somethings called? If you enjoy posting here then shouldn't the interaction between you and the other posters be the important thing, not what the sections called?

I think I accidentally shot cupid when I was target practising with my .22 about 12 years ago. Little prick!

It would be nice if I could find a women I can relate to. Sometimes old friends think it is funny when I get close to women, and than I blow them off in a been there done that not going to work kinda way. Personally, I don't see the humor.

Everyone gave up on matchmaking too. I end up going back to them saying "you thought she was my type really??? Do you even know me???"

It isn't the name, it is the extra typing and hoping I have to do that my topic won't get deleted because I didn't advertise for a silly dating site.

Besides, if they keep my thread instead of deleting it for no good reason, I wouldn't be so upset.

Spongy, I'm off this section till the changes, I'm not having my threads deleted.

I keep an OKC account so I can go and review all ya'll's accounts when you come here complaining how you can get no satisfakshiyon. And then I get a little bit carried away window shopping for a potential boyfriend/girlfriend but I am starting to think I may be depressed because even the good looking and interesting people just make me think "I can't be bothered getting to know you".

When someone invents a sure thing, PM me, until then, amma hibernate.

I'm with you on this plan. I read other people's profiles when they post them here, I moderate a little, I window-shop a little, but the bottom line is I'm not really interested in meeting someone right now.

OTOH, if I'm that active now, I can only imagine what I will be like if I am ever actually ready to "date" again. :)

so a joke? i'm confused. I really hope so. More to love then dating, and I have had better luck with POF then okcupid.

The question itself is very simple.

just okc and pof since they are free and actually have people.
I use to approach women but now i'm too terrified to.

Do you join things like dancing clubs where you might meet someone of the opposite sex in a similar situation because online dating is too much effort for you?

nope can't afford to waste what little money I have on those type things. I like online dating more anyways cause of all the information i can get before hand. Helps in knowing they are single, looking and topic points.

What do you guys do?

Not very active. I don't complain much about it though.

Every once in a while I work up the nerve to feel someone out, but it never goes anywhere because I'm an awkward tool.

No clubs, that sounds horrible. No dating sites because the vast majority of guys are getting absolutely nothing from that and I don't stand out from the pack in any regard so there's no reason to think I would do better. I also don't want my picture on the internet because I look like a botched test tube clone of Alfred Hitchcock.

I have done dating sites and before the internet even use the ads in free papers and video dating, Due to their failure I never do pay, it has never paid off, if a site requires payment for messaging I delete my account (they are never up front about that and you get the account someone messages you and then when you try to respond they say "you have to pay first". Nope, because so far not one person has ever worked out positive in messaging, they are either scam artists or they just get nasty after a few messages.

recently I started a relationship with someone I met on Facebook - which is good since I can't use OKC anymore now that they block Firefox.

What are the new guidelines? I missed them and can't find them anywhere.

I go see live music quite often and sometimes people approach me and I meet a lot of people at work as well but never anyone I'm attracted to.

I was on a dating site for a few months last year but I quit because it got too cold and I had to go into hibernation lol.
Another problem was that there weren't very many people with high match percentages with me in my area.
I should move somewhere like San Francisco where there are so many matches above 90%.
I think online dating is much more efficient for me to find people with similar values and interests.
And I like how I can meet people whom I would never cross paths with in real life. Now it's spring so I might get back on it.

I'm not active on any dating site right now, but I have a very active dating life at the moment.
