Does having an obsession with cats and having lots of cats have a corellation to not being able to get a date? I mean think about it some of the loneliest people end up live alone in a house full of tons of cats! [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASG6r9rhwcE[/youtube]

It doesn't make any sense. Many people have multiple felines and a normal social/family life.


On the other hand, if a person is troubled to begin with and can't get aanyone to settle down with them, they sometimes go to the extremes like hoarding as a mechanism to cope. Having a ridiculous number of cats is also a hoarding behaviour.

There has been a study (or studies) that show that ownership of felines has a high positive correlation to mental illness in females. I'm not sure how true this is however. I would link to one of the articles, but since I am a new member, I am unable to as of yet.

However, I just wonder if maybe there is a correlation between being lonely and having a lot of pets in order to compensate for the lack of human companionship.......like what "voltagesparks" was referring to.

I don't have any cats (I've only ever had one, at a time when it didn't matter) and I must have a great big visible-only-to-NTs (no aspies around) sign that says "UNSUITABLE".

I wonder if people who like cats admire their independence. Maybe they relate to the cat who can make it's own way without need of support. Ok so it might want to be petted from time to time and enjoy sitting on your knee to get a bit of body heat, but in the long run, the cat sinals that it doesn't need anyone.

By adopting the admiration of the cat the single person is declaring that they too don't need anyone.

I don't know, I am a dog person. Cat's can be cute, but I find them difficult to interact with.

Generally huge obsessions with anything usually mean you're a bit of an oddball. Unless it's about something "cool" like the Kardashians or some rap singer.

We had lots of kitties when I was a kid.I don't have one now because I don't believe cats should be outside and an indoor one would eat my other pets.If I was going to get one I'd love a Siamese,I had two before and they were great.

there is a cat lady on my walking route. she has at least 10 cats and she smokes.

But she loves cats! I love cats too!She seems to realy like cats and it went viral! If shes trolling Eharmony she was successful. Although I feel the same way I am also a cat lover they are so sweet! I just wont horde cats!
