Me and my husband have been together sixteen years, married for thirteen. I'm NT, he's not.

We have never been out for an evening to the pub for a drink/watch a band etc.
We've been to the pictures once (it was Shrek (sp?) when it first came out).
We have never had an evening out with friends.
We have been to a restaurant three, maybe four times.
I told him not to make a fuss for my fortieth birthday a few years back - he didn't.

However.......

One year for our wedding anniversary he bought me a rug, it was approx. three foot x five foot. He had me kneel down on it and close my eyes. I heard a little motor start running behind my ear and felt a cool draft against my skin. Apparently it was a magic flying carpet! The motor had come from a tiny helicopter he'd bought to give me the impression of whizzing through the clouds. We landed in Turkey first and he treated me to a wonderful massage to help relax me for the journey to come. We then flew to France where he guided me to our couch and put a French DVD on the telly and a red beret on my head, opened a decent bottle of wine and we pretended we were in a cafe in France watching the world go by.

There are a couple of other stops that we made on our magic carpet, but I shan't bore you with the details of one and can't give you the details of the other ;). It just occured to me how little little of the 'regular' stuff we actually do as a couple but the things that we do do together more than make up for 'what's missing' and are much more memorable than a night 'round the local'.

I love you my darling and I know you will read this at some point and you won't be able to respond. But I know what you'll be thinking and that's good enough for me! Keep your pecker up handsome, I'm here on the other side - Always.
