I'm not sure I understand your question.

Is this a question of when you knew you were meant to be (such-and-such)?

Or an existential question of when you know that you were meant to exist and the meaning of your life becomes clear?

It's meant to be when it happens without either person trying to make it happen.

It's meant to be when you stay together without needing to try and stay together.

I would guess it can be different for different people. Its an emotional thing and so very subjective and affected by each individuals personality and perhaps experiences. There might be some things that are common feelings associated with it, but to list them would sound cliché.

But for me, the feeling was something akin to madness.

There was a dramatic shift in my daily experiencing of things. I felt very different, not like my normal self. Who is this person?

If after the honeymoon period is over you still want to spend your life together, I'd say you were "meant" to be.

I think this sounds like a good answer. I was going to say when things happen naturally, but some people might interpret problems as things failing to happen naturally instead of a natural part of a relationship.

I thought I was meant to be with my 1st & 2nd girlfriend before things fell apart. I felt like things were meant to be with my current girlfriend before we moved in together & we're still doing good. I guess I don't know how to tell the difference between when it's really meant to be & when it's just bull-spit that will blow up in my face.
