I don't currently have a job or go places much so I don't have much chance to meet someone. Can someone list places?

church/temple/mosque/synagogue if you're religious.

Volunteer work

Other places where people with common interests might go. What are your interests?

I just got asked out by some random guy at a music gig tonight.

This. Where you might meet them depends on which type of people you want to meet.

I'll add my 10 cents to the original question - if you are interested in social sciences but around there are no such clubs and you can't go to college due to full-time job - what places should you choose to meet people (and girls!) with common interests?

common interest clubs are the best places indeed, orchestra, church (equivalent), chess club, library... wherever you want to go, a common interest is at least one conversational topic

Take one part time course at a local college. Or an online one & then arrange to meet up with others to study. Or simply join an internet forum w/ discussions on things you're interested in and see if there are any locals. Or check your local popular forums and see if there are any people discussing your interests - heck, even the forums on your local craigslist. Or go spend some time in your local library or book store in the section with books you're interested in and see who else is there checking those titles.. I'm sure there are many other ways to find like minded people, too.

Thanks.. I tried it -but in my country there are no colleges who let you study one course, only all pre-defined program (you can't even select some additional classes - it's not like in Europe or US), on forums I found only guys with such interests and one of them is my friend now (and als has same problem with girls), so as in bookstores and libraries - I go there every week, meet lot of men 40 and up reading books I'd also like to read...

I won't ask my problems on so popular forum if I not tried every easy idea :)
