I think I've reached the point I need to change my appearance in order to do better at attracting women. But I've literally never bought clothes for myself, only what I get for Christmas each year, and even then, some of what I have goes back to high school...ten years now.

I don't know where to begin. What kind of clothes do I wear that tell the opposite sex I'm confident and successful and worthy?

Edit: Here's my OKC profile, so you can see the "tools" I have to work with. Needless to say I don't have much of a body for good clothes. Nothing is in proportion.

A blouse a jeans and some awesome sneakers would be just fine.

I looked up 'casual guy outfits' on google images. All fine examples.

My post started this, didn't it?

First of all...calm down....shhhhhhh...relax.

OK?

Right.

Dress in what you're comfortable in, first off. Clothing doesn't have to say you're confident and successful and worthy. It just needs to stand out a little, so you get noticed. Have a particular style that suits you, rather than just the old band t-shirt and jeans thing.

When you experiment, be aware you may get lots of looks, some good, some bad. Just be prepared for that.

Thing is, I'm not sure how good men are with experimenting with stuff like that. I would look up different colour combinations online, look in catalogues, clothes shop dummies etc. and see what might look good (or bad) on you. Choose things you wouldn't dare wear as well - try them on in the shop. Often pretty clothes will look crap on you, and ugly-looking clothes (at first glance) may look great on you.

Clothing alone will get you noticed at first glance only, it won't keep someone interested after that.

A nice polo shirt and jeans seem to work well for me. Make sure that the shirt fits well and is a nice color (aka - not bright orange or covered with ugly stripes). Pretty standard, but I've at least gotten a handful of compliments that way.

Go to a good people watching place and observe what the guy in young couples is wearing.

It should be more what to avoid:

- Avoid shirts that look long on you, your ass and your genitals levels shouldn't be all covered, by half at most.
- Avoid the too tight shirts if you are not toned.
- Avoid squares.
- Avoid horizontal lines if you're not tall.
- Avoid tall jeans, your shoes shouldn't be covered.
- Avoid too much colors, avoid cartoons, video games drawings, animes...etc especially if you are older than 25.
- Avoid anything that makes you look feminine or associated to femininity.
- Avoid "V" colar shirts, the bigger the V the worse.
- Avoid anything associated (whether it's wronly or not) with gay groups in your country.
- And most importantly, avoid wearing glasses if you can go alternatives. Personally contacts are hell to my eyes, so I am considering surgery.

This is going to sound weird, but I get more looks and friendly comments from BOTH sexes by wearing my purple squid hat and braiding my beard, which reaches my stomach. Perhaps you should do something strange to stand out?

Addition to my previous post:
- Avoid squid hats (all colors) and long beards reaching your stomach.

It is more about what to avoid, yes.
I think the glasses thing is the least important.
In terms or shirt also you don't want it to be too short.
I agree on the one about cartoons and such on a t-shirt for older guys.

Oh, disclaimer: I know next to nothing about fashion.

Notice how they carry themselves when they wear the clothes, look at how the clothes fit them as the fit is very important.

Get a stubble trimmer and trim to a 0.4 to a 1.0 stubble. I use a babylis stubble trimmer and if you do cardio a few times a week, it really brings about a chiselled jaw.

Now for the hair, try different hair styles depending on your head shape but ask a stylist what she thinks. Just type in fashion model hair styles on google images and many examples will come up.

No matter what decisions you make, keep it sharp, edgy, confident and professional. You are doing something at the moment that is coming off as soft or self defeating to them and it could be your clothes, body language, tone of voice or conversation but you have to start believing in yourself.

Sort of depends on what sort of woman you are trying to attract I think....I mean are you looking for pretty much normal well adjusted females, are you looking to find someone with similar interests, are you looking to find someone in any sort of specific social group/sub-culture/whatever? I just do not think there is one size fits all approach.

The "fur" in the second pic looks feminine fashion to me, or is it just me?

^ Yeah I'm pretty sure you CAN go wrong with that. I was actually unsure whether he was joking.
