ok, so to make a long story short.. hmmm.. I've know a girl for a while(+years). We've gotten very close (like hang out every day). She sees me as a brother. I see her as way more. What should I do? She has started dating a guy who I feel is my replacement. He's an awful lot like me. I've been VERY jealous when he's with her. I don't know if it's obvious or not. I kind of wish it is. I told her once how I felt, but I don't think she quite gets it. I think most guys would just tell her.. I've trained myself not to ever let on to my true feelings.. especially romantic. I did once while drunk.. so I think she just assumes it was just the booze talking.. Should I just lay it out?? should I try to kiss her? (I think she would give me the "what are you doing?? are you drunk??"). I'm in a panic whenever she starts seeing someone. He's nice I guess and maybe he'll be good to her, but I think I might ruin our friendship with my jealousy. I really can't stand the thought of losing her, but at the same time, if I stick around, I'll go insane for real. Or should I just wait it out? HELP! I can't take much more of this.. it's a repeating theme for many years.

Honesty is the best policy.... you gotta break the cycle... i take it you always hold in there until they get too attached to a guy, then drop you, am i right?

tell her now... dont hold it off... the only concern i have is that i may already be too late - depends how long she has been with this guy, and how nice he is

Here's what I think you should do. Go out and date another girl, the one your friend doesn't know. Then next time you and her hang out, casually mention the new girl you're seeing. Chances are, the girl you're friends with will get curious and ask you questions. Maybe even get a little jealous. But most importantly, she only likes you as a friend (for now, at least), do I don't recommend making any moves yourself. Let her initiate it first. But don't wait for it, go out and try to meet other girls instead, the ones who will like you romantically.

ok, so who voted stay and wait? Cause I'd like to know what that will accomplish.. I've waited for several years now. I think Maybe I should just stop seeing her. She seems happy with her new guy thing.. whatever.

Tonight we were having fun, it was great. Then her guy showed up. Ick. She knows what's up. I should just stop answering her calls. Girls are like all problems. Ignore them and they will eventually go away. Right?

Probably me. I know that I voted for something, and it sounds likely.

I guess that I'm just so used to letting the girl make the first move, that I would consider that the only option which might get me anywhere. Moreover, I never like to lose a friendship. It seemed like the only penalty was insanity, and that's not a biggy (at least not from here).

True. Plus I can use the insanity to write songs. I'm starting a new band, "The technicolor experience" since I'm recently obsessed with 60 psychadelic garage rock. Got a guitar player.. now just need a drummer and bass player. Think I'll employ my current such and such of such. hehe.
