I don't get it, really... isn't sexual attraction supposed to be about that ultimate pleasure that evolutionarily procreates? I can, even more powerfully somehow, perform that very function... but why am I still so empty? Is the purpose of evolution not conceptually true? Does love somehow truly exist as some sort of formless ideal?

Love exists because of evolution too, an offspring raised by two (or more) has more chance to survive.

I was once taught that often most people seek, and to varying degrees have an innate need, for five types of intimacy: physical, sexual, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional. Sex being just one of those, once it is sated I am still left with the others. If they remain unfilled I may feel in some way "empty".

I would take both...all the time. Orgasm and love are not opposed to each other.
