my dad said he's okay with it for religious reasons (so long as they're on HIS side of the family, since my mom isn't okay with that stuff)... Also, I'm pretty desperate at this point... I was really close to my 14 year old cousin, and I think I remember telling her I was in love with her, but she gave a vague response and I haven't heard back since... though my dad said it's because I kept calling so much they got tired of me.... my 19 year old cousin is moving to the US in my 2nd year of college (I'm in 11th grade) for her master's degree, or earlier, due to the political conflict in Turkey...... I had a crush on her as a kid, and she was one of my first crushes..... what do you think?

How much of a cousin is she?

It's legal to date first cousins--but it's considered pretty incestuous by most people, though.

If it's a third cousin, it's maybe okay--though it's still in screwy territory.

A fifth cousin would be quite all right. President Franklin Roosevelt married his 5th cousin Eleanor---and not an eyebrow was raised.

Why would you want to have inbred kids?

I wouldn't, if I were you.

It's your aunt or uncles' kid, for crying out loud.

Do you get along with your dad? It's important that he be a good dad to you.

If she says yes, and your family is okay with it, then I don't see anything wrong with it.

You're 16 man, calm down. Your situation is not desperate at all.

Too bad he's distant. I wish he were in your life more.

Is there some sort of Koran study group you could attend? (You have to be calm, though, and don't fly off the handle at these study groups!) That might be a good way to meet girls around your own age, as well as girls who are as observant as you.

This first-cousin thing....I'm rather skeptical about that.
