No. Just no. It's too 90's. On par with dial-up internet and AOL CD's. A virtual date may have seemed innovative and exciting back then, but a waste of time today. After all, you're just typing messages back and forth, chat room-style. Not to mention you can't get physical if chemistry happens. Not even little things like hold hands.
Besides, what communication channel would you use? Chat rooms became obsolete years ago, and I don't know if old-style messengers (AIM, Yahoo) are still around. Skype comes close, but it's not text-based.
That said, it would work as a semi-formal interview, where you discuss your likes and dislikes on a date, but not as a virtual date you're describing. At least not in 2015 (soon to be 2016).
