Is there a way you can find out? And, how did you find out anyway somebody else has been paying?

Is it like one of those 'tab' things and someone's been paying for your tab?

I asked 2 bartenders, they don't know. That person who is paying want to keep it a secret, I wish I know who paying & why being secretive.

Does bartender have a different name if that person is a woman?

When I asked for the bill, the bartenders told me someone else paid for my lunch, this never happened to me before, but it happened three times now. I have a mystery to solve, I guess.

It wasn't a tab, I paid for lunch before.

Is this at the coffee place? Then the server wouldn't be known as a bartender. He would be known as a barista.

Nobody calls a woman bartender "bar maid" any more. It's considered an insult. A woman bartender is a bartender.

This wasn't at the coffee house, the place is being remodeled. I was at a restaurant.

There are doubtless any number of reasons one could put forward, but I would say that, stastically, you're in the majority. It's a rare thing to happen.

The only case I know people do that, is when it's out of pity or charity, if the person looks too poor or homeless. I knew a restaurant owner who did it for a particular person.

I doubt very much that this is the case in this situation.

She doesn't look poor or homeless.

Why an admirer would be so secretive then? And for three times?

It makes no sense.

There are lots of shy people who like to be "secret admirers" in the US.

I thought only teens do it.

Isn't the guy she likes a waiter there or something?

Unless your crush works there, I doubt he's been paying the bills.

It's likely the bartender who first tells you that your lunch has been paid for. If you don't have any body language to interpret the situation, you're likely missing something. He could be making it out to be a secret, but hinting in body language that it's him. Aspies classically miss these cues.

I wonder if this same guy works at the coffee place AND the restaurant.

Kitty, next time order a red lobster or a month-aged steak with some fine wine.
