I have been trying free online dating websites for a week now and have finally been messaged back by somone. I gave her my phone number and she called me tonight. We talked for about 10-15 minutes before she had to get off. She said bye and I replied "Love you, bye"...
I then said "sorry"
I then hang up
My brother nearby could not stop laughing, then I started laughing. He said "I've only heard about stuff like this happening, but never thought I would experience it in real life" This is the most awkward/funniest thing I have ever done and no one in my family thinks she will call me back. I would be frustrated if I didn't find it so humorous.

I would message that persona and say, " haha sorry, I didn't mean to sign off that way but it's force of habit between our family and just spontaneous. Hope I didn't freak you out, " or some such message that sounds appropriate to you.

I think she will understand that you said it out of habit. Instead of stressing just laugh about the situation, it takes away the akwardNess :)

It'll make for an excellent story if you end up together! :D

Anyway, you're better off without a girlfriend, mantis, she will eat your head.

I agree with this. I think if you don't act like it was a big deal and laugh it off, it might not be a big deal. If a guy I was talking to did that and then explained it this way, I probably wouldn't think too much of it, especially because you said, "Love you" and not "I love you." It's certainly not something I would end things over if I liked him. Everybody has times when they say the wrong thing, even NTs know that feeling (Like when somebody thanks you and instead of saying "You're welcome," you accidentally say "Thank you," back to them).

She texted me "GM" this morning, which I assume means goodmorning and so I replied with a goodmorning back. I am going to just ignore what I said last night and call her back tonight with a conversation that will end in Goodbye instead of Loveyou bye. This sounds like a good idea. Also, I have said thankyou before when I should have said your welcome.

I reckon she had a laugh, it does sound like something you say normally not something with meaning. Be interesting if she says it as a joke to you now :)

Yeah, it's all good OP.

And if she seriously freaks out over it, well she may not have been the right person for you in the first place.

These things happen.

Called her last night and she didn't seem to realize it had happened and I didn't mention it. Crysis averted. The only problem now is that I don't like talking on the phone and she can't skype, and we live an hour away from each other so we can't meet up that often. But, oh well. We'll solve it all eventually.

Good luck, mantis.

And by the way, frequent GM texts is the most obvious sign that she's interested, she wouldn't do that to any guy.

There way you say something the inflection and tone makes a big differnce in the meaning.

If she noticed she probably worked it out.

This thread is wonderful little gem. This is why we need to keep the L&D section :)

Glad it didn't turn out bad.
