I am nearly 27 and when I go out to bars it seems quite often (at this point in my life) more gay men make advances towards me than straight women :( . I have thick hair and am slim in build at 149 pounds with clean shaven skin (I shave before i go out). I am under average for my generation standing at 5'7 3/4 and that might be a turn off too. I know your going to say grow a beard but from experience that makes woman less attracted towards me

Do you think perhaps if I had a shaved head I would have better luck with the opposite sex? I remember a year ago one one night out my hair was styled in a way that gave the illusion I had not much hair and I had more girls attracted to me. I do get the impression that women are more attracted to bald men because they look more masculine. Just look how many women like Bruce Willis, Jason statham and vin diesel.

I must say having more men interested in you when your a straight male sucks but then when a women does so interest I am become very meek and shy

I personally wouldn't especially since you say you have nice thick hair so I think you have more options before doing that, I wouldn't do the shaved look unless you were balding. I feel like it would look weird on a guy my size but maybe I'm just projecting.

Any attention is flattering tho, if gay guys are liking you then you must be doing something right right? I guess I don't know.

Shaving your head could backfire, too.

I shaved my head when I was 29. A total disaster.

For chrissakes, you're almost 3 inches taller than me. Stop thinking you're short. That's ridiculous. I'm 5 foot 4 3/4,and I don't think I'm short!

I guess I don't know the spectrum of what gay guys are attracted to but if you're attractive to one group of people then I assume you must be to others.

For my country I am more like a bit below average height (England average is 5'9) than short. My generation average is 5'10 so technically I am short amongst the young crowd.

I'm in the US. The average height for a young man is about 5 foot 10. I'm 5 foot 4 3/4 inches tall--way below average, in about the fourth percentile.

Still, I don't think I'm "short."

A: That's like saying, "I like short women - if tall women usually think I'm attractive how can that possibly be good?". It's still a complement to your looks or maybe demeanor.

You might try something halfway to bald, such as a more...conservative cut. No. 4 clippers on the side, trimmed by hand on the top, blended. Not the almost-fauxhawk long on top, but the sort of cut you might see in any boring office full of cubicles. Just to see what happens - It may not be "you" but it'll grow out soon enough. could make for an interesting sociology experiment...

Short and hair are in the eye of the beholder.

Some have Mohawks
Some have Faux hawks

I have a NO HAWK.

My head had to slowly adjust to the razor blade.
Pass the band aids please

I'm not sure what percentage of women find men with shaved heads appealing, but personally that would actually put me off very badly. I find the Jason Statham/Bruce Willis look a complete turn-off.

No offence to any males here who have that look; there are women who like it, clearly.

Not me; personally I would advise someone who doesn't have to shave their head, don't.

The bald/beard look doesn't work for you, because you're too damn skinny for it. Think Jason Stattham, or Vin Diesel, or countless wrestlers. This look will completely turn younger women(under 30) off, but who cares? Women are better when they are more mature and women in their 20s are more likely to like Justin Beiber.

I wouldn't do it, man.
While us guys worship fictional heroes and anti-heroes like Jean Luc Picard and Heisenberg, that doesn't mean women younger than the good side of 40-50 will find that look attractive on you.
EDIT: O snap, as I was writing that Keen posted it, too!

I've actually been asking friends and family if I should shave my head but they've advised against it totally.
Namely because while on the right person it's an authoritative look it is also associated with far-right militant types, thus reducing chances with someone more your type (or in my case, my type).

Personally I like a thick head of hair. Are you pretty timid? Maybe they find you attractive because you are cute or something.

I used to get a lot of lesbians approaching me because they thought I was cute and shy. I would take the attractions as a compliment as gay men and straight women have some similar attractions. Women don't really approach guys whereas guys are more likely to approach.

I think you've noticed the gay men more because the men approach while the women don't. Not because you only attract gay men ;)

I don't have much choose since my hair is thinning. I figure once I get my Jean-Claude Van Damme build, I'll just shave my head and start wearing skull caps. I'll actually have a "bad boy" biker look lol. Honestly, young girls are nice to look at but they annoy me. Not all, but a good majority. I rather settle down with a woman.

Hey, he can always wait until he's in his late 40s early 50s and go after younger girls that have daddy issues and want a "daddy/daughter" relationship. I have seen plenty profiles of girls wanting that....
