I am on a medical diet to lose weight. I have lost weight already but I'm worried that I won't lose enough and have to get weight loss surgery. I'm concerned about the excess skin and having even more scars on my body. I've had surgery and it caused a lot of scarring.

Excess skin would cause even more visible scars on my body because of removal and I don't know if I would find true love if that happens. Even with my current scarring I don't know if I will find love.

I know people who've had that type of surgery and the scars (which fade over time) are better looking than the excess skin. If someone can't see beyond some scars, then its not true love anyways.

Also, chicks (guys?) dig scars. Heh, it's an age old saying for a reason. Scars (ok, historically from battle), add character and uniqueness to people. They tell a story of struggle and hardship, strength and overcoming, surviving and thriving despite the things that have happened to you in the past.

I have stretch marks on my hips from when I was fat. I have stretch marks on my biceps from building muscle. I have scars from sports & work, skin infections, and acne & accidents. None of that has prevented me from hooking up with 9's, 10's, and 11's. Granted, we're not talking about true love.. but definitely about superficial vanity. I mean I've hooked up with some truly beautiful people.. actors, models, dancers - 9's, 10's, and 11's. My skin deep imperfections haven't been a constraint to that. At all. The only way they would be is if I *believed* they were an issue and that eroded my self confidence. It's all a matter of (self) perspective.

One last note.. it truly is the clothes that make the (wo)man. On the nude beach I hang out at, everyone's attractive in their own right, including very overweight people - and especially when they're bright and cheery vs. hiding themselves from the world. It's only when people get textile and put clothes on that their attractiveness changes. If the clothes are well suited, stylish, and fit them well then they look good. If they're ill fitting then it makes them far more unattractive than their nude bodies. As for your situation, clothes will fit and look better post excess skin removal. Look forward to that IF you lose enough weight for that to be a consideration, IMO.

I've had close to 30 surgeries, 27 to be exact, on my back for chronic kidney stones. They are to say the least, unsightly. Most are just from holes the size of a pencil, but my first two surgeries were done back when Dr's didn't understand my condition so they were a little too aggressive. It left two scars that make almost one continuous line around my waist. I've been in a couple of serious relationships and the women found the scars to be sexy. They actually seemed fascinated by them. It might not be the same type of surgery as yours, but what I'm trying to say is don't worry about scars. Scars won't keep you from finding true love.

You're not 300 lbs! Weren't you about 225 lbs at one time, then lost some weight from there?

My impression is that you're too "skinny" for something like lap band surgery. That you might not be eligible for it, even.

Maybe, in this case, your worries about excess skin might be somewhat unfounded. You might only get stretch marks or something.
