I read that girls like assertive guys. But whenever I try to be assertive I feel like I'm going to far. How can I find balance?

One of the best ways is to think of the phrase, "assertive, yet not aggressive."

Express your opinions, but express them diplomatically---but make sure your partner knows you HAVE opinions.

Having good social skills is not an overnight process, and I still can get oversensitive and nervous.

It's hard to have opinions about subjects I don't care about.

Women talk about relevant things frequently, I have found. You shouldn't have any trouble expressing opinions.

One thing many women care about (and you care about) is nutrition.

True, true. I thought was worried they'd start talking about pop music or sports.

You wouldn't believe how many aussie women like watching sports. It's so boring to me.

I like Aussie Rules Football.....because of those referees who wear the funny hats and white suits.

Women who are into sports, I find, are usually more down-to-earth than women who are exclusively into more "feminine" pursuits.

They don't care so much about how your house is decorated, either. They go with the flow.

Maybe I'm feminine because I like things like light opera and I do care how my house is decorated

Women would dig you, then.

I don't give a horse's butt about how my house is decorated---though I don't like it dirty.

Light opera is okay--but I'd rather watch a ballgame LOL

Probably depends on how you decorate your house.

There are probably very few who would considering a man feminine if he decorated his room in style like this. And light opera should also not be a problem.

For the rest maybe some exercising to beef to build some muscular. And maybe some martial arts training.

In my experience, most women just like men who look decent, dress decent, and treat them with dignity.

Why is it that every time I try being assertive, everybody thinks I'm whining?

Could you provide an example? Perhaps we can help understand

Same with retro could you provide a hypothetical scenario where you have felt this?

My idea of the perfect amount of assertive is making decisions and having your own opinions but not being so stuck in your ways you don't consider other opinions.
