Here goes!

I notice that guys that tend to hit on a lot of women somehow manage to stay single more often than not, even though if you go by probability's sake they'd say, have more chances than someone who hit on only 1 woman every now and again or none at all.

Do women smell desperation, do you think? Or just know if a guy is willing to settle for literally anyone?

I also took a peek in the Aspie pic threads in R, the introductory board and the members only board.
I noticed that there are guys and girls who literally say every single person of their sexual preference is attractive.
Like, they have no set type of person they prefer over another. No interest in making someone they say is attractive feel more special than say, another person they might have found attractive also. Does this become obvious to other people? Because sometimes I look at the pictures, and while I'm not attractive myself, I cannot fathom how every single person of the female gender would be attractive in a thread, much like not every guy would be.

In my own experiences I don't hit on women often and if I do it's because I really like them or at least think I do, and there's enough signals there to work with. I feel this works for me as people within proximity can gauge I'm making exceptions therefore there's a genuine interest in the girl.

But back to the question of the thread. Women, girls, can you detect when a guy is just hitting on any old person and when they have a genuine crush on someone? And how does the latter differ from the former? What's your overall views on this?

Yes, I can tell. If they don't pick up many women, then they will come off usually as more shy and maybe their words will not flow well (stammering) and they will possible blush, smile as if they are embarrassed, things like that. Someone is used to approaching women will come off as cocky and sound like they are using a pickup line and most of the time they will look at you straight on without any embarrassment. The ones who are not shy about it are used to doing it and therefore have no problem looking at you. Kind of like giving a speech that has been rehearsed several times and you are so confident that you are able to look people in the eye and say the words all correctly and you know what I mean.

On your remark about the men finding every woman's picture attractive - that just reinforces the saying that "men will hit on anyone wearing a skirt". On the other hand, maybe they are just saying it because they want to be nice and it would be rude to not say something positive about a person's picture. If I don't find the person attractive, I will still point out something in the picture that I like about them. If someone does want the God's-honest truth about their picture though, I will tell them.

But angie, this is a discussion forum.
It's not like someone needs to address everyone of their sexual preference in a thread, right?
It's an outward effort. Almost like throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Would women not pick up on that?

As for picking up in a bar or public place, wouldn't someone who comes across as rehearsed also look like they have lowered the bar in some shape or form?

I would be turned off by someone who is too cocky and comes off sure of themselves. To me, that means what they are saying to me (a stranger) is too easy for them and probably has been said to a million other women. A PUA is a perfect example - they have PU lines. It's easy to tell when someone is using a pickup line. Let's just say I would be on my guard because women do like someone who is "confident". It may be hard to distinguish confidence from cockiness.

About the addressing all of the women pictures, I honestly think that those guys are a little desperate - I don't compliment all men's pictures. Kind of like when I said something about yours - I found it to be very tasteful. I do tend to tell men that they are nice looking or handsome, if I find them to be - at the same time, I'm hoping they don't think I'm trying to pick up on them. It's hard for me to say someone looks nice because it seems men always take it that I want to go out with them or jump their bones. Sometimes that is the case, but certainly not always.

I'm going to echo a bit of what Angela already said. Guys who are practiced at approaching come off as cocky and a bit arrogant, and their lines are practiced. Whereas guys who are shyer naturally stammer, may blush, etc.

But I had also read somewhere - I'd have to go and find it to be able to cite it - that men who are relaxed and calm - or they have NO emotion - when approaching you, are LESS interested in you than the guy who gets all nervous and jittery around you.

If you think about it it makes sense. He really likes you, so he gets nervous around you and he stammers and may flub up and do something stupid. But the guy who calmly delivers his pick up lines without breaking a sweat - he's not that impressed with you. You're just another woman.

To a young woman, or a woman who may not know any better, she may think more of the "confident" guy - not realizing that there's a reason he's "confident." He just doesn't care that much about her, that's why he's not at all nervous about the approach. And I think the non-emotive guy will come across as the same - just sort of blah. He's not really that interested. He's just asking everyone out.

Very true. That's why I like shy guys more. I hate cockiness. I loathe it. I used to work with this pharmacist and he was the smartest person that I had ever met and should have been a doctor because he knew more than them. However, he knew that too and was cocky about it which for me was a big turnoff. I got along great at work with him, but dating - hell to the no.

The other thing to consider is that the guy who approaches anyone calmly and never breaks a sweat may also be a sociopath/psychopath. Sociopaths are particularly charming, and they have absolutely no empathy at all.

Generally speaking I think people that post pictures of themselves probably consider themselves at least somewhat attractive whereas someone that doesn't think of themselves as that way probably wouldn't. it It would be pretty rude to call somebody ugly on here, I don't think that is evidence of no standards but rather just basic decency.

Yes, those who find us ugly will not comment on it.

TheSpectrum, I am not a woman....I think *checking*, yeah, well... but it could probably be a matter of consequence of the guy's conventional non-attractiveness: The unattractive guy keeps lowering his standards due to his lack of success and rejections, so he ends up with no standard.
Think of it, the more attention you get from the opposite sex the pickier you become and the more 'in demand' you feel, and you become firmer (ie. Oh, you are talking to me rudely? Bye, I have plenty of other options).

Experienced women will be able to pick up on no-standard men.
The nurse explains it pretty accurately but not all women are the same,
for there are indeed women out there who are themselves what would be called players,
just like there are guys who are clear and obviously brazen womanisers.

The womanisers are able to get into the panties of so many women because,
well, how shall I put this, I guess we could reverse the gender in your thread-title:
«Can Men Detect a Girl With No Standards» ?

Why? Well, a successful womaniser does not criticise a lady for wanting pleasure (such as calling her a slut),
and an experienced womaniser knows exactly how to give said lady the pleasures she desires.
Also, I need to point out, all so-called relationships are actually «karmic» in nature.

On, average, I suspect that most of spectrum-population will have less sex-partners in a life-time,
whereas a greater percentage of NTs will likely have had more sex-partners on average.
This has less to do with the psychological-wiring, I believe, and more to do with the fact that,
the NT typically has much more social-interaction and thus more opportunities for encountering bed-partners.

I have always been told tbat a guy who really likes you will be a bit nervous.

It's when guys are too complimentive like "you're awesome" "I love your eye" "your so smart" constantly rather than wanting to find out more about you. I don't mean like the odd "your beautiful" or a compliment in context I mean like a constant stream of random conpliments they probably don't even mean.

A man who is actually interested wants to know more about you and dive deeper.

The thing that really matters aswell is if they are listening to your responses or just pretending because they think that's what you want.

I kind of rambled sorry about that

It's not about having no standards, yours are far too high.

No you're alright. Good to hear an honest answer.

Who's the bozo only complimenting one of your eyes? Do you wear an eye patch??

Hmm I do get nervous around the girls I like. My language even gets sheepish and I end up using a very limited vocabulary. It can be overwhelming but at the same time, do women really want that? It's no surprise they'd reject this in favour of what is seemingly perfect.

Alright, if you're going to be like that.

You might want to date a woman bigger than you. I know it sounds awful, I mean, the idea of a woman being bigger than a man. Dread the thought, but it might help. I wouldn't call having a woman slimmer than you, a standard exactly.

And say if you have a fat man, who wants a woman slimmer than him. I mean fair enough, he has to have standards, doesn't he? Well f*ck the fat woman, who gives a sh!t about her? She should f*cking diet and stop being such a fat f*ck.

I was recently dating someone "bigger" than me. We're still talking now.

Holding onto a view I am totally entitled to have, which wasn't even about you, and one from over 3 years ago is extreme. You can't tell people who to like and not like!
