We had been talking about marriage for a couple weeks, and I formally proposed to her Sunday. I first asked her out on April 7 of this year, so this has happened pretty quickly. We haven't set a date yet, but we're thinking sometime in the fall. To recap our relationship, I'm 28, and she's 56 -- yet we mesh together wonderfully. We met at our small church, which we had both been attending for almost 10 years, but we had never thought of each other in that way, until it just occurred to me one night (our church meets at sundown, and then goes out for dinner and coffee, late into the night) that she always had a smile on her face, and just seemed so full of joy and the love of Christ. Our religious beliefs are identical, which is rare to find even in a friend. We have lots of mutual friends, which is awesome. All my family and friends approve of her, which is quite stunning!

I'm just glad. (I'm an Aspie, so you'll have to take my word for it. :D )

Congrats! I know another happy couple who met in very similar circumstances. May God richly bless your union.

I suspect that the chance that the two of you are ever going to have kids together is pretty much like zero...

Funny thing this, there seems to be a lot of marriages between Aspie men and much older nt women.

Interesting... I do get along best with people much older than me.

And, the chance of us having kids is exactly zero, due to hysterectomy. She has two boys a few years younger than me, and they're both okay with us.

Woo hoo! I love weddings and love and romance and cake. Mostly cake.

Congratulations on finding the right one for you!

I had married a man 13 years older, when I was around 20 or so. After we divorced, I dated men that were up to 20 years older, and down to 12 years younger. Each person had something to offer. Something that was attractive to me.

I never worried about age when I was the younger. And always worried about it when I was the older one. I think it has to do with this culture, and worrying that the younger one would ditch me for someone else young. And that was the main concern of the men that I dated that were older. That I'd ditch them.

If there is a deep companionship, compatibility, trust, love. Those are the things we should look for.

I love that your families and friends are supportive too. That can be a problem in any relationship, if one family doesn't like the chosen one.

May you have a wonderful life together.
