Does anyone else here think that Amy Schumer's announcement during her newest standup special on Netflix that her husband has Asperger syndrome will help reduce the stigma of being in a relationship with an Aspie?

Of course.

NTs are notoriously dishonest about loving each other in any sense. We're marginalized because we're born realists.

Ha! You really think this forum is full of realists?

No, not really. If an Amy Schumer type is the best we can do, that's not very reassuring.

I am not much familiar much with this celeb, what's so bad about her?

Compared to other popular celebrities, Schumer is very average-looking. Although that may not be a problem for some men on the spectrum, most AS men's standards (myself included) are considerably higher :P

No.

Until I read your post and googled "Amy Schumer", I knew nothing about her announcement. I doubt that many other people did either.

If you are a guy with high standards, I suggest getting a STEM degree and a high paying job.
Even better, further your education and become a doctor.

What an attitude! No wonder some men have no girlfriend! They are not willing to settle for an ordinary, average woman when they (falsely) believe that then can have a high-class bikini model!

In reality, there's no "stigma" involved in dating an Aspie.

Sometimes, I feel that Aspies sometimes create a "stigma"--when actually none exist.

I think she's good looking, though I had to Google her to find out who she is and what she looks like. I'm (voluntarily) celibate, but I'd prefer her over a "high class bikini model" any day; the number one turn-off for me is superficiality.

I knew who she was & I also think she's good looking, actually I have some pics of her saved on my comp. She's very funny too.

You know guys, it is funny how when some guy doesn’t like the obese type, you quickly assume he wants a bikini model.

There are many body types between the two “extremes”.

Just as "funny" as calling her obese. She is actually in between the two extremes.

I didn't know who she was, maybe he dislikes her for other reasons?

This is a fairly recent image of her for those who (like me) have no idea who she is

Image

She's larger right now because apparently she's very pregnant.

She is at the upper limit of normal weight. Certainly not obese.
