There's that girl 'buddy' (more than an acquaintance, less than a friend) who texts me from time to time, and was asking about me, so I mentioned what's new in my life and in my gf's life....and she reacted literally saying "Talking about your gf again????".

And she stopped replying, I stopped at that, then she sent good morning later on as if nothing happened.

Is it socially not so acceptable for one to keep talking about one's partner? Does it usually bore people?

Yes, its essentially bragging

Imagine you text someone "hey how are you" and they respond "awesome, just cruising in my $1.5 mill ferrari with two college girls in my passenger seat"

Now thats obviously a bit exaggerated but you get the point

^Except she's no car :-/ she's a person who's part of my life as I am part of hers, so whatever new happens for her affects my life directly as well. She got a new job, so I just mentioned that.

It's fine to mention your SO.

It's because she's jealous.

Yes, she's probably jealous in some way. Maybe not jealous of you in particular but jealous of your relationship, so I'm assuming she's single. For me, if a friend always talks about their SO sure it can get annoying sometimes but mostly it's nice because you can see their happy about it.

You may think of her as a girl buddy but from her perspective you may be her romantic crush.

She probably wanted to hear about something other than your girlfriend, for whatever reason.

That she acted like "nothing happened" means----that nothing really happened. Maybe she regrets what she said earlier.

Maybe she wasn't in the mood for a lecture or whatever.
