Why are women inparticular judgemental of men who avoid eye contact?

I'm guessing it has to do with the universally accepted notion that eye contact is essential when it comes to communication. And if you can't maintain it, chances are your mind is off somewhere it shouldn't be.

In the West, eye contact means “you mean what you say.” You are truthful.

In Asian countries, eye contact isn’t as important as it is in the West.

Um, actually, in Japan eye contact is perhaps more important than in any other nation in the world. To not make eye contact is to disrespectful to the person you are speaking to.

But why are women judgmental about it?
