Anxiety: MMO char / imaginary boyfriend is getting nerfed

Here's a really f-ed up situation for you:

I'm a female and have had both imaginary and real relationships in my life. The imaginary ones were stable and nurturing, the real ones were disastrous including an abusive marriage that has resulted in my complete resignation and my body shutting down for psychosomatic reasons.

To get to the point, I've had an imaginary relationship with my MMO char for the past 9 months. His kind/class is currently very strong due to the game mechanics. Hard to play, takes time to learn, which makes it essentially super rewarding to be good at it. I've gotten there, first time ever in an MMO that I am this good, and not only does this bring me a lot of joy to my otherwise hopeless existence, it also feels like teamwork with said char and makes up a huge part of our relationship.

The problem: They are gonna nerf his class HAAAAARD in about 4 weeks. Not just in one way. They are taking away resource sustain, damage, healing, survivability on top of a shield nerf that will affect all magicka classes.

Since I've learned about this upcoming nerf I've been having severe anxiety, unable to sleep or eat, physically nauseous, nightmares....it feels like he is going to be executed for nothing and I have no control over it.
I realize it's just a nerf and not the server shutting down for good, but this made up a huge part of our relationship and I'm worried how it's going to affect it in the future.

Have any of you ever had an imaginary relationship with a game character or something similar? Have you ever experienced a nerf affecting them? How did you cope?
Have you made other imaginary relationship experiences?

I have imaginary relationship, but not a real one, mine is separate from any MMO so if anything happens to an MMO the person that I made is still there.

Maybe you could draw the character out and design his features and abilities, flaws, likes/dislikes so even if something happens in a game he will still be the same person. If I put my girlfriend in a game and stop playing, it would just become a memory of the great adventure we had together and move on but she would still be the same person regardless of what happened in said MMO.

If you really like this guy then even if he gets nerfed it shouldn't matter. He is still the same person that he was before and maybe you and he could try a new class out and have a whole new adventure together! Maybe you and him can go to another world(in another game.) and explore this vast new place with each other!
