Not very useful. It all builds on NT preferences.

All of those can be categorized into conditional and unconditional love.

Conditional: best friends, siblings, self, cat, child to parent, spouse

Unconditional: Dog, Parent to child (healthy cases)

or so you think

Go travel abroad for 2 years, come back home and see if they even remember you. Cats don't like their owner no matter what he does to them. I don't think I need to link to any resources that prove cats don't love unconditionally as dogs do because it's common knowledge by now

Yeah I skimmed through that study but still as far as I managed to understand it doesn't prove cats like social interaction with people because they are genuinely interested in the well being of their owners. They would just as well prefer interacting with their owner over food because that may be the immediate need for them to require human touch/friction.

No cat ever cried over his owner's grave. No cat ever died out of sorrow after their owner's death. No cat ever remembered their owner after not seeing him for many years and then rushing at him with sincere joy. That's the difference between interest-based love and unconditional love

Not saying cats are bad pets, but there's a reason why dog's is human's best friend and not a bird or a cat. Humans in most cases love each other less so than dogs' do actually so in that regard we are inferior, kinda same as cats.

I think the kind I aimed for when it comes to romantic relationships is Pragma

Eros: It's probably closest to my preferences as it is supposedly similar to romantic love. Still, I don't see love as sexual or possessive, and so this is not ok.

Philia: I don't like a relationship to be based on only friendship. There is a need for passion too.

Storge: Relationships shouldn't be asymmetrical or like parent-child bonds, and so this would not be ok either.

Agape: Unconditional altruism is good & fine, but a relationship can not only build on altruism.

Ludus: Relationships should be fun & playful, but also must be serious and "committed".

Pragma: I don't think relationships should be practical only. There has to be more than that to it.

I didn't see my cat for over 10 years once.

She remembered me right away.

I belive lots of romantic relationships start this way but evolve into other forms.

Dogs "love", because it's instinct.

Dogs are pack-animals that are hard-wired to show behaviors that seem like love, but aren't.

I've seen dogs randomly turn on their owners because of the same instincts.

- Whereas, if a cat shows you love - it's the real deal.

Cats aren't genetically designed to be pack-animals - they have no instincts to make them behave as dogs do.

If a cat shows affection - it's operating beyond the boundaries of its genetic design.

The cat loves you for real.

And it won't turn on you like a dog will, either.
