Had some girls refer to me as cute.

It can mean different things. I've had people tell me I was "cute" too, but not in the romantic sense.

Before I met my current girlfriend, some girls (gay, straight, and bisexual alike, it didn't matter) believed I was "cute" too, but not in a romantic or sexual context.

That's been my experience. They're like Your So Cute when I do or say something that isn't quite normal or is awkward. I think they see me cute kinda in the way people see their pets as cute.
